This has already been discussed, but Somnst doesn't want any collaborators. If he did, he would have made his mod open source a long time ago. GB_2 started his mod because he got tired waiting for Somnst's mod (and with hopes that maybe it will motivates Somnst to work faster), you can find him saying this under one of Somnst's videos on YT.
I actually didn't know this, missed this conversation, a shame, thanks for telling me.

Somnst clearly in the last video was taking inspiration from Amnesia/Soma/Penumbra, with how environmental manipulation works, and I was thinking, well, Amnesia/Soma/Penumbra are rather modder friendly, maybe GB_2 could look at their code to implement some of that magic into their noVR mod?

I think a flatscreen noVR mod of Alyx shouldn't just try to translate Alyx into Half-Life, it should look at how to translate the VR experience into a flatscreen experience, and seeing how Alyx itself seems to take some cues from survival horror games, that's what a noVR mod should too.

Aiming should be deliberate, like Resident Evil 7/8, no crosshair if not aiming, and very inaccurate to hipfire, then have a crosshair while aiming (mouse 2) but move slower, and have the reticle bloom if you are moving, focusing if you are still--
This would mean that getting an upgrade like the lasersight wouldn't be trivial, it would be an actual upgrade, now the laser always present, hipfiring is a lot more easier after getting it.

I have a problem at the start of the game. Where you need to answer the incoming call. I press with the button E on the yellow blinking light to pick up the call. But nothing happens.

I know the E button is working because I could pick up objects with it. I also tried with enabling a crosshair on my pc monitor to look if I am aiming correctly. But it does not work.

Could someone help me with this?

I had the same problem and it was solved with this advice from Sledge Hammer:

I got this from the mod's faq-

I keep pressing E to use the microphone at the start of the game to answer the call from Eli but nothing happens? Am I stuck?

This usually occurs because the files for the mod were not fully copied over properly. Sometimes this occurs even if you do it correctly. Simply reinstall the mod and ensure to copy the files one by one if needed.

The entire faq is located at -

It worked!

Not possible, unfortunately, because Somnst's mod isn't open source. And besides the two have very different approaches. GB_2 leverages the scripting capabilities of the Source 2 engine. Not sure what exactly Somnst does, but it goes much deeper and would definitely result in a better experience, the only downside being that it takes forever (while GB_2 had a working version in about three weeks and now has all the time in the world to polish things up).

I didn't mean look at the code by Somnst, I meant look at code from Penumbra/Amnesia/Soma.

i found if you just start the game with the play.bat file everything works nicely, using the latest version from github

Does novr have an ingame pause menu? I need to adjust the mouse speed, and apparently that can't be done from the main menu.

That's the main menu which doesn't let me change preferences. It says I can only change those options in the pause menu.

Sure, I can adjust my mouse speed every single time I launch the game and then adjust it back when I'm done, but I shouldn't have to.

Ok. On my mouse I could adjust the speed in game with some button.

The ingame menu doesn't have any mouse settings because it's not made for a mouse. Try asking at discord, someone might know if it's possible to set with console commands. If it is, you can then append them to the script that runs on startup.
