Nah its the stupid box, because i dont get motion sickness on roller coasters, in cars, on theme park rides,never have,i dont even even experience motion sickness in vr its migraines and a regular monitor and tvs do not give them too me ive tried lose adjustment and tight adjustment of the stupid box migraine both ways. I dont get this playing on standard monitors and tvs same fps same graphics settings the only difference is on screen is 5 ft away and the other is glued to my face on a stupid box

"migraines" can come from many things, and it is kinda silly to bunch them all behind "from VR". It just shows how little you actually care about the tech. Consider it as learning how a diving suit works. Sorry, no, you cannot breath fresh air while using a diving suit. You need to consider HMD's weight, FOV, tracking accuracy, ventilation, ease of use, how ready your PC is for VR, what is going to be your core direction of experience with VR and etc. All that can easily be the core reason you're having migraines, not the tech itself.

Keep in mind that the first models of cars were unable to lift much weight, and the most use you could have off them was an automated carriage for your daily walks.
It is OK if you choose to stay with your "tried and true" horses, but do not expect things to be top notch perfect, right off the bat.

I had tons of problems using VR, until I've started practicing and trying to figure out why things were the way they were. Getting a better computer, practicing more, turning features I didn't need off and fiddling with settings is what made VR perfect for me. I also went for an HMD with the best parameters. Picking games that fit with your best VR experience is also a must. Even a badly chosen locomotion could easily make you queezy.

Exactly, most people myself included experienced some discomfort when first using VR but they tend to overcome that given time assuming that setup/performance issues etc are not the underlying cause or contributing to it.

However, there are some that never seem to make that adjustment and just cannot play VR without experiencing unpleasant reactions, but that is seemingly to do with their particular makeup not inherently anything wrong with the tech, it just doesn't suit them as an individual. It's unfortunate for them but blaming the tech is just silly.

From their faq-

Currently you can earn 33/42 achievements for Half-Life Alyx on Steam using the NoVR mod. The other 9 achievements cannot be earned at this time due to the workarounds being different for the gravity gloves, weapons, upgrades and more so they currently do not trigger the achievements. These are the 9 achievements that currently cannot be earned:

Dead Giveaway - Loot a corpse
Up in Arms - Install your first pistol upgrade
Freshly Squeezed - Test your grip on a headcrab heart
Zombie with a Shotgun - Collect the shotgun
Deadliest Catch - Use the gravity gloves to intercept an incoming enemy grenade in mid-flight
Combine Harvester - Use the gravity gloves to loot an item off a living Combine soldier
Safe Trip - Use the multitool to hack a tripmine
Hold Your Liquor - Catch a bottle falling out of a cupboard before it breaks and alerts Jeff
Gnome Vault of My Own - Bring a garden gnome with you to the Vault

Working on having the final 9 achievements be earned while playing the mod.

I am not able to answer Eli's message at the beginning of the game and therefore cannot proceed. Although pressing 'E' works fine for picking up things, etc, it does not activate the message.
I have followed the installation instructions as written and hopefully that is all ok.
Also pressing 'M' does nothing - no main menu at all.
If anyone has any helpful suggestions it would be much appreciated.

I got this from the mod's faq-

I keep pressing E to use the microphone at the start of the game to answer the call from Eli but nothing happens? Am I stuck?

This usually occurs because the files for the mod were not fully copied over properly. Sometimes this occurs even if you do it correctly. Simply reinstall the mod and ensure to copy the files one by one if needed.

Thank you Sledge Hammer, that certainly did the trick. Although I did exactly the same as the first time I installed the mod, the location I got it from was different. Maybe that has something to do with it. Regardless, all is now working well.
And, yes, big 'Thank You's & Congratulations to Funkkeyer and his teammates for this wonderful gift. I enjoyed playing Alyx in VR a LOT - an extraordinary experience - and am looking forward to playing it in this format also. Some things just have to be, so thanks to GB_2 for making it happen.

Iam finished now and iam happy, it works well better then expected and yes sometimes a little clunky but nothing modern games wont have when they got released these days xDDDDDD

Game looks awesome, but IDK.... can you move with WASD or is it like VR?? Cuz thats a deal breaker for me....VR is supposed to be immersive....but nothing says immersive more than aiming then hitting a button to move. If WASD has been implemented with this MOD then count me in

You're in. WASD is built right into the mod's script. Here's the key setup -

Keyboard and Mouse
Left Click: Select in Main Menu/Throw Held Object/Primary Attack
W, A, S, D: Move
Space: Jump
Ctrl: Crouch
Shift: Sprint
Right Mouse Button: Secondary Weapon Upgrade
Middle Mouse Button: Tertiary Weapon Upgrade
E: Interact/Pick Up Object Using Gravity Gloves
F: Flashlight (Once you get it in Chapter 2 - The Quarantine Zone)
H: Cover your Mouth (Chapter 7 - Jeff)
F5: Quick Save
F9: Quick Load
M: Main Menu
P: Pause
V: noclip (If you get stuck on geometry or due to bugs etc)
~: Open the Console (to use cheats etc, you will have to switch to an English keyboard)

Sorry to be a bore, but.....another problem!
Reached a point where I find the health hypo thing but can see no way of storing it anywhere. Is this even possible? Will be useful when getting grenades as well.
Any help will be appreciated.
