Can you play the game without playing the previous games?
Alyx is really the only 'story' game I got for VR rn, and I have a someone who wants to try vr, but I want it to be a rather immersive or a memorable first time for them, so I thought a story game would help get this effect. But they've never played a half life game (and I've never even played alyx lmao) could one still enjoy alyx without previous game knowledge?

HL 1 is the beginning of the story.
But it helps if you play HL2 (VR, HL 2 EO1 and 2 (VR).
The first chapters is like an tutorial to VR and HL.
You can enjoy HLA, of course without previous knowledge. :steamhappy:

Thanks a bunch, I had originally thought Alyx was a prequel but been hearing that Alyx is basically HL3, didn't know too much but as long as I can get a great impression of VR for the bois!

ALYX IS A PREQUEL ... it's set 5 years before the start of HL2 but there are good reasons to play HL2 and the following Episodes first, for reasons I can't go into without spoilers.

theres vr mods for hl2 and the episodes
theres also one for hl1 but its pretty rough
