vconsole2 not connecting?

Hello,

I'm having an issue with the command console (vconsole2) not connecting when playing HL: Alyx.

Sometimes the console works fine, but most of the time when the console window opens it appears to be stuck in an infinite loop with the following messages:

Connecting To 'Localhost:29000'
Disconnecting From 'Localhost:29000'
Disconnected From 'Localhost:29000'

I tried verifying files and uninstalling/reinstalling HL: Alyx and SteamVR, but that doesn't fix the problem.

Has anyone encountered this issue before? Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Hi, I´m having the same issue. Could you find a solution for that? I could´nt find an answer by searching the web. If anyone else has an answer I would be thankful for getting it. Thank you in advance for your help. Kind Regards

Got same problem recently, vrserver.exe from SteamVR occupied port 29000 for some reason so the whole setup didn't work by default, it's easy to understand that you'd like to make the game run console on different port, but it ain't easy to find info on how.

Add -vconport 23505 to HL Alyx launch parameters, the port can be almost anything, if you have doubts - most values in range of 20000-30000 will work.

Launch the game, open the vconsole2 by any means

In vconsole2, add new device to connect to, port matches previously specified in -vconport

vc_add_device -address 127.0.0.1:23505

If it didn't automatically connect, on the new device tab you can type

vc_connect
