Floor height adjust
I'm on my second playthrough and I'm running into a strange issue making it very difficult. My floor is the game is about 8" below the real floor.

Any ideas on how to help fix this? I've redone the room setup a couple times and tried the floor fix in VRfps, but it only seems to have gotten worse. Other games are unaffected

Try verifying game files

Did you reset things not only in Steam VR but also in your VR headset software. For example in Oculus you set the floor height in the Guardian perimeter setup.

I have the same problem with the floor being 6-8 inches off the ground. No other game does this, and what's weird is that it's fine in the main menu. It starts as soon as a game is loaded.

I've already tried re-doing the Steam VR room setup again and I've also tried OVR Advanced Settings both floor calibration and offset. Nothing seems to work. Maybe I didn't use OVR correctly?

If it helps Valve, this issue only started when I started using Vive trackers for my feet, alongside Natural Locomotion. I can't go back to teleporting after being able to use smooth motion and trigger in game movement by jogging in place.

I had this same issue as you in Alyx and tried everything suggested... It turned out to be my IPD setting was too high....

This made me seem to hover above native in game floor and made me feel stumpy like I was about 5 ft tall and was very noticeable (my actual height 6ft 1")..... In game items seemed off sized also I.e : barrels seemed tall but chairs seemed half size.

I set my ipd to 6.4 and its fine now with no floor issue....

Your theory would hold more weight for me if every VR game or even more than one VR game did the same thing, but in my case it's just Alyx out of 200 VR titles. What's funny in my case is that the floor is fine in the main menu. It just jumps up 6-8 inches after the level loads in Alyx.

Incidentally, in OVRAS you don't have to manually 'offset' if your floor is wrong. There's a 'space fix' tab where you can click 'fix floor' while leaving one controller on the ground, that will fix it.

I tried that. It didn't work. Both methods didn't work. The fix floor method is also the same as doing room calibration, minus the other steps.

Exactly the same issue, but I'm using an Occulus Rift S.
Fine in the SteamVR and Alyx menu, but as soon as the game is loaded the game floor is about 8 inches below my real floor.

I can confirm it is not a set-up issue... if you load one of your previous saves, floor height is fine... loading the most recent save has the floor height issue. So it's something in the save game file that is causing the problem.

For me, the solution was to reload a previous save and replay the last little bit - it was all good from then on.

Obviously an issue in the game though, so maybe someone wants to look into it.

I guess I should try starting the game with a new save then. That's a good observation.

Ho-ly hell! Makes sense- thank god I didn't go too far with this issue and was able to go back to a previous autosave. My man!

I had the same issue on the Index.
The floor was too high by about a foot which was annoying.
- Only happened in Alyx
- SteamVR Home was fine
- Alyx was even fine in the menu (orange footprints in a circle)

Ended up fixing it by doing this:
- going into settings within Alyx
- enabling (or re-enabling) the "crouch" accessibility setting
- Resume game
- Click on the left joystick to crouch
- Click on the left joystick again to stand back up

After that the floor height was fine
Once in a while it comes back and a quick crouch/uncrouch fixes it.

Hope this helps someone
Peace

Torment you life saver! I can verify that Torment is correct. I was about 20cm above the ground and when I enabled crouch and used the crouch button the floor went back to the correct height.
