Feature Request: XBOX Controller (Gamepad) Support
I know, I know.
Still, I just don't want to play with VR Controllers. I want to sit and use my VR headset just as a head mounted display. I know that's not the way it's meant to be played (pun intended) but I still very much would like to not play with motion tracking. Its annoying and complicated and makes me not play the game.

You're basically asking Valve to completely remake HL:A., you are aware of that fact correct?

I own NVIDIA 3D Vision. Unfortunately, it is no longer supported by NVIDIA and even with mods by a amazing community games were having display problems. Also you ignored the head tracking part. ;)

The game needs to track your hands with the VR controllers, Xbox controller support isn't possible.

Have you ever flown an F-16 Viper in VR?
You are missing out!

I played Skyrim VR for a little bit, and if it were not crashing I think it would be fun to play with a gamepad. I will try Subnautica next. :)

Yeah it wouldn't work, same as a non-vr port, picking stuff up, aiming around cover, scavenging cabinets and such wouldn't work at all, 99% of the game wouldn't be there.

Yeah, it's called HL2.

I'm sory but i can't play this. I want "classic" gamepad controls, and yes I fully realize that that takes away a lot of how this game is designed. I just cannot tolerate the VR controller thing. Alxy is amazing, it absolutely is, the graphics and the immersion jaw dropping but I will take a pass on actually playing this and spent my time on cockpit based VR titles instead.

I will give this another try if and when there are really good wireless VR headsets and maybe even like "gaming gloves". But with the VR tech that's availiable right now this sucks for me. I find it annoying irritating and after 10 minutes I just cannot tolerate the gear anymore.

Ladies, ladies, stop fighting about this silly argument! We must not forget that, no matter if we like flatscreen or VR, at least this isn't a console exclusive!

This simply won’t happen scince the game is designed around motion controls.

You may have luck with a mod.

Other then that - if you like that kind of play there are really tons of Vr games playable that way.

you should probl look into the Programm „VorpX“

I simply can't understand this.

Get handed a quantum leap in control technology and you're "nah I want an Xbox controller!"

It's pretty insane, yeah.

Why buy a VR motion controller game that you wont play anyway? It has been made clear time and time again that they will not be making it flat.

Guess your best bet is to not play.

To try it out?

I only played Cockpit based VR games until now. DCS, Overload, Elite. I love VR. Alxy was the first time I ever used VR controllers. I hate it, I hate the controllers. Still Alyx is already a legendary game and video gaming history - I had to see it for myself! But for me, I really like to play Skyrim VR with a gamepad.

I was one of the 3D pioneers with the Elsa Revelator and with NVIDIA 3D Vision. Right now, I just want a Head Mounted Display and headtracking to look around in the game world. Gesture controlls and standing while playing ist not for me, absolutely not. I hate it I feel like ripping the gear off it doesn't add to the immersion for me it makes me feel like scuba diving for the first time. (Like an idiot about to die due to stupidity.)

Alyx does not use gesture controls. The controls should be pretty intuitive. You just perform actions like you would in real life.
