Any other things that should be tweaked for Alyx? (also using a 1080 Ti)
In every Game where i play i do not use it. I turned it off in WMR and also Motion Smoothing in Steam and have Lag/Stutter free Games. And this was just a Tip what he could try.
Before i would use Motion Smoothing and Motion Reprojection i would cap my FPS a bit lower to my stable AVG FPS. I see no sence behind it why i should half my FPS from 90 to 45 with Motion Reprojection when i can archive maybe 70 or 80 constant FPS (as Example) and have than a smoother Game Experience because of more FPS.
When i play FlatGames on my 144Hz Monitor and can not archive 144 FPS to get a smooth Gameplay i take a look on my constant FPS what i can get in this Game and set my FPSLimit to this Value and do not half my FPS to 72 (and for sure i play with the IngameSettings too to get better FPS).
An artificially extrapolated image looks worse in my Opinion, but can help to get an smoother Experience like you wrote

I deal with it (from Game to Game less FPS than my Refreshrate), but than set my fps to an constant value instead of make the image worse through Motion Reprojection (half Framerate and extrapolated Pixels)
