Nearly all corporations are out there to make money; question is what they sell and if the product is of adequate price and quality, as well as if there are underhanded tactics or manipulation at play.
HL3 damn well better be VR ever since the ending of Alyx has Eli handing me a crowbar, that got me hyped.
We find a Portal gun on the Borealis.
Half Life: Alyx protects Valve from being critically shamed for not being up to standard by using VR as it's gimmick. Alyx repeats everything from the original games and does nothing new.
I'm not impressed and have no expectations of Valve if they're only making VR games.
I don't trust Valve with Half Life and I don't trust Valve as a developer of games. Did you guys forget how terrible the past 9 years have been for Valve games? They're not interested in making core games anymore. That's why you got stupid card games, chess and now VR.
I look at Halo Infinite and it gives me an idea of what Half Life would look like today in a mainstream market. It would become a meme for how generic and uninspiring the series has become.
Some games don't age well, not everyone can be a DOOM Slayer or Mario. I blame Valve for that. They've kept the series idle for too long and have not expanded on the universe. The story is always the same, it tells you something that means nothing and the joke is on you.
They made a franchise we all fell in love with but they've been a crappy developer for almost 10 years now. The past doesn't mean anything If you suck today. Half Life needs a major upgrade DOOM Eternal style.
Make the world bigger, more textures, effects, show off Gordon Freeman the way DOOM did with DOOM Slayer - they were so proud of that character - that's where Valve needs to be. They'll never get there If VR is priority. So I doubt Half Life 3 will ever happen.

G-Man's reason for replacing the legendary Gordon Freeman with Alyx Vance is that Gordon was supposedly hesitant of doing what G-Man asked him to do. And I'm just like, WHAT?
Gordon Freeman has basically done everything G-Man has asked him to do in the series! In the original Half-Life (and I guess, Black Mesa), Gordon destroyed the Nihilanth, which prompted G-Man's employers to take control of Xen. And don't forget, this happened BEFORE G-Man gave him that job offer!
We enter Half-Life 2. While he's never directly told WHAT exactly his mission is, it's pretty obvious he accomplishes his mission goal by destroying Nova Prospekt and the Citadel.
In Episode One, we see G-Man getting blocked from Freeman by a bunch of Vortigaunts, which might be what G-Man was telling Alyx toward the end, but Freeman had no idea they were coming to save him, and there's no way that was his fault.
In Episode Two, G-Man tells Freeman about how the Vortigaunts were holding him back from talking to Gordon, and tells Gordon to take Alyx to White Forest and deliver the message to Eli Vance. And Gordon does exactly what the G-Man tells him to! He even stops the base from getting destroyed by the Combine and helps close the superportal! And then, Gordon blacks out after getting attacked by the Advisors, which again, was not his fault!
Therefore, what the hell is G-Man talking about? Gordon has done everything the G-Man has asked of him, and therefore, him being replaced with Alyx (who is, admittedly, badass in her own right, as this game undoubtedly proves), makes absolutely no sense given G-Man's excuse.
Alyx is 98% positive on steam, highest half life game ever, one of the highest games on the entire Plattform. We do understand that you are sad by not being able to afford the future of gaming, but that comment is just ridiculous
