Don't reduce ammo (maybe even increase it or make the pistol unlimited). What's really needed is a LOT more enemies to shoot at or amp up the enemy AI on the combine to make it more difficult to shoot them. Currently they're just brain-dead canon fodder.
More enemies I mean more encounters, more figts.
For headcrabs: a lot more of encouters, make them more reactive, fast, they attack togheter as in HL1 and HL2. Hide headcrabs so they can jump off taking a lot of ambushes please, place a few in the most bastard places please.
For Combines: reduce the nades availability we can find around in certain areas. When the AI see us throwing stuff back to them, they shouldn’t throw nades (non suicidals). After playing Echo Arena for 2 years I’m too skilled to send it back, Combines should know that lol.
The big one is the only barely hard to kill, all the other ones are very easy please add more enconunters with the normal Combines. Adding more combines for each battle could works good.
The fights are too rare. Many of us played for years VR games such as Onward VR we are surprisingly good to aim with guns. Rare and easy fights ruins the immersion for us all, we needs more challenges. This can be archived in Alyx I’m sure just needs a rebalance for hard difficulty.
The visuals, gameplay, sound design, screenplay and characters design are really amazing in this game, I mean outstanding, but without balancing the difficulty for hardcore players it is not immersive as it could be, and can give few bits of frustrations to us. I hope Valve you can do it for future patches please <3
Edit.
Feature request.
If we break the big medikit, the one with the worm inside, we can free him (he will run inside the ground)
Funny, you don't seem to actually own the game.
You haven't got the mouse icon next to your name to show you own the game on Steam.
If you read my discussion carefully you can see I really care about HL Alyx. Yes I don’t own it but I borrowed to some people and played it, at hard difficulty with Oculus S (I played the old version 1.2).
I saw it in sales during past days and I really was going to buy it, the sale was good but I wouldn’t in the very end, because too easy. That’s something triggered me to write this topic, I wants to play it again with a true hard challenge. i’m looking for a second run, I even wrote another topic here to ask for a mod: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/discussions/18446744073709551615/2638497042775387831/?appid=546560&tscn=1594667807
I will not play it with a difficulty mod if there is an official patch. I’ll wait a few months and see.
I gave a lot of feedbacks in the posts before, may aren't, they are more feature requests than suggestions about the actual game features. I think that's not really useful and I made a lot of confusion.
In shorts, what really seems bugged in hard modality is (probably) only the amount of medikits we can find during the travel. I believe if you only reduce the amount of medikits the game it will be already be perfectly balanced for hard mode.
Today I was thinking about the next relase of Alyx on next gen consoles as PSVR2: there are really a lot of hardcore VR gamers that played PlayStation VR games such as "Firewall Zero Hours", they are very very skilled players and will probably be the right target to play Half Life Alyx on Hard Mode. This target of players would enjoy a rebalance of the Alyx Hard modality I'm sure (as well as us HC gamers on PC).
Thx for reading and sorry for the flood posts, bye <3
Played through Hard 2 times in a row, never had any issues with it due to how easy it all was. Then again, HL:A is very "watered down" in order to be friendly to newcomers, so that might be why.
Still enjoyed it though, but it was more like a ride and less of a challenge like previous HL games were.
