Floor in the game is too low? (standing roomscale; possible bug?)
Hi,
I am having a slight issue: the floor level in the game is about 30 centimeters lower than my actual floor.
The room is calibrated correctly, i.e. in SteamVR Home if I put down controllers they "lay" on the floor surface, but in Alyx they float above.
This creates some problems, like picking items laying around (without yanking them with gloves, obviously) and reaching for some handles located at the bottom of the doors.
Also this creates a "feeling" that my feet float above the surface instead of me standing.

Any tips? Where can I report this properly?
Maybe this is related to my lower base station being above the floor level, but I would not like to change that; besides, other games handle this correctly.

Using Vive Pro.

Either height in your Headsets software or Steam VR is not calibrated right. Try resetting them. Make sure you set the floor level correctly. AlLso as you say it could be because of tracking.

This bug is there since the beginning :/ Most of us are floating above the ground. The height calibration is just off.

It does not matter if you own Oculus Headsets, or Windows Mixed Reality Headsets or SteamVR Headsets - the height is off and mostly you are slightly above the ground.

The height works perfectly fine in other games or home environments(Oculus Home or the fantastic WMR Home). And no matter how much calibration you do there it is not working in Alyx :/
Sometimes you stand on things like littly stones, rubbish or just about anything, which can give you the impressions you are floating above the ground - but not on a flat surface.

I hope they can fix this. There is something wrong with the game :(

I have an Oculus headset (Quest) and the Index. The height is fine on mine... so it’s not a bug in the game or everyone would be experiencing it. My advice would be to uninstall the game, recalibrate, then reinstall. Hopefully that will help

I don't know why your heights are off, for me it was fine. But, to sidestep the problem, you should look into OpenVR advanced settings. It's a SteamVR plugin and it has (among many other things) a floor fix feature, as well as a feature to increase and decrease any of the axis of your play space. With it you can bring yourself up or down to compensate for games that don't have your height correct.

https://github.com/OpenVR-Advanced-Settings/OpenVR-AdvancedSettings/releases

You can snag it at the above URL. It will add a second settings button to the SteamVR dashboard.

Same issue here.

I'm floating 20 to 30cm above the floor. It's a problem to access some drawers or sometimes when I have my head in the ceiling.

For me the problem appeared in the middle of level 5. Before it was working normally. I read in other threads that you can load a previous backup (before the glitch) and it should work. Of course you need old backups, which is not my case :(

I'm using an Oculus Quest.

I found this answer from a user called Torment on another thread, and it works:

——————————-
I had the same issue on the Index.
The floor was too high by about a foot which was annoying.
- Only happened in Alyx
- SteamVR Home was fine
- Alyx was even fine in the menu (orange footprints in a circle)

Ended up fixing it by doing this:
- going into settings within Alyx
- enabling (or re-enabling) the "crouch" accessibility setting
- Resume game
- Click on the left joystick to crouch
- Click on the left joystick again to stand back up

After that the floor height was fine
Once in a while it comes back and a quick crouch/uncrouch fixes it.

Hope this helps someone
Peace

Just to be clear - the settings are inside the “Accessibility” option. Good luck all!

Have you tried the OVR Advanced Settings height offset?

the game's save file also seems to this store data, so if you saved the game, and then afterwards adjusted the headset's floor location settings... loading the saved game will still show the wrong height.
