cant open console

hello i m from europe so i have an europe keyboard and i cant open the console no mather what i did the launch options but it wont work for me has anyone any idea?

you can change the keybind, Otherwise try the key on the left side of number 1,
or try å ä ö, Otherwise try hitting aaal the buttons untill you find it! and make sure you got cheats enabled! If this dosnt work i recomend you check out the hla discord for helping with console commands! :)

I have the same problem, I pressed almost every key on my keyboard, nothing worked. You just have to change to an english keyboard, you somehow have to install another language and then you can change between english keyboard and whatever you use. That's what I did.

And how do you rebind it?

You have to FIRST input: "-console -vconsole" as launch options for HL:alyx in steam or the console will not open

Yes, but the problem is that you open the console with a button that is somewhere else on non-english keyboards. And maybe the button doesn't even on a german keyboard or the devs didn't think of this, because I have a german keyboard and pressed almost every button, and nothing worked.

Oh, Strg, Alt and +? I tried many combinations, but I seem to have missed this. Weird, because normally you type "~" with Alt Gr and +, but at least you can do it without switching keyboards.

so guys with the help of you i found a solutiono

look for the save folder of alyx
go to game
go to hlvr
go to cfg
look for user_keys_default.vcfg
there you can change "toggleconsole"

hi all, i'm from france. i changed the "toggleconsole" in cfg file and console still not showing up ( of course, i did set the launch option as "-console -vconsole". even if i set my keybord to english...no matter what, it wont show up.

this is so bad that only a specific type of keyboard can use the console.

answer from Kohlraeble worked for me.
I'm on an Azerty keyboard.
Just adding more info:
I modified the line like that (for binding to F2) :
- "F2" "toggleconsole"
- Then you need to restart the game
