VR for people that are color blind?
I have colorblindness, where I see more green instead of red; deutan. Is there any option for specific lenses in VR setups? I have used color blind settings in games and they don't really do anything. I'm in the process of buying enchroma glasses.

More than just different types of colorblindness, each type also got different levels; some people with the same type of colorblindness may barely have any issues while others practically can't see one section of the spectrum at all, so be prepared for your experience with the glasses to not necessarily match the ads and those extreme emotionals videos people share. Additionally, I heard that for some people it may take some time, for some even more than a week, for their brains to learn that it's now receiving different kinds of signals from the eyes after starting to wear those glasses, so don't give up if you don't notice any effect the first time you put on the glasses.

Regarding the accessibility setting of some games; usually what they do is change their pallette so that important colors are remapped to the color range associated with specific types of colorblindness, very few actually recolor everything, it's usually just GUI and HUD elements plus things like pickup item and team colors.

One thing that I haven't seen many people try which I think might be helpful would be to mess with the color settings in your GPU app, experiment with things like increasing saturation and vibrance, and messing with hue shift (this last option might require different values for each game). I'm not sure if those settings make any difference in VR though; haven't tried that yet.

As for custom VR lenses, I know there are some companies that provide replacement/addon lenses that match people's prescriptions for far/near-sightedness; I haven't heard of any specifically for colorblindness though.

Oh, and btw, from what I understand, those glasses tend to work much better with things lit by sunlight than indoor lighting and screens; the way they work is they filter out the spectrum range between the two colors you tend to mix, and that reduced overlap makes it so the cells for each of those two colors can activate more independently; with certain kinds of indoor lighting the color spectrum is not as filled up as with sunlight, it has it's own gaps that may now cooperate very well with the way the glasses work; and it's even worse with screens, where white is created by very narrow spikes of red, green, and blue, but there is no standard for the exact frequencies of each of those colors, so each screen may be using a slightly different frequency of their color components. I think some companies make special variants of their colorblindness glasses meant or indoors and for computer work, but while they do help some people, they can't work as good as outdoor glasses work outdoor.

I'll give you a hint: Have you ever heard about post-processing filters like ReShade?

I am colorblind as well with red/green, blue/pruple and certain others colors will be indistinguishable if they are next to each other. For the most part I just don't try to tell them about but sometimes (i.e a color based puzzle) will bring any enjoyment to a screeching halt.

That being said I don't have any issues for me when it comes to playing VR. None more so than I would have in any other game but of course this may not be the case for everyone.

You can literally pick a change colors(replace one color with another), and it will affect whole game the whole time.
