Crash since chapter 8

I have been playing the game and making my way to chapter 8
But when i got to the more open spaces i kept getting more and more "freezes"
Until the room where the zombie walks into the mines killing you, where i died, but when i tried to load a save my game just closed with no error message, and now everytime i try to load an save (even earlier ones) the game just exits with no error message.

When this happenend i whas playing on the standard lowest settings, but after changing the settings seperately in the advanced settings the game still closes.

i have
os: windows 10
processor: Inter(R) Core(TM) i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz
memory: 16GB ram
graphics: GeForce GTX 1070

also when it crashes the loading text and the map stays, even when i start different games
it only goes away when i start half life alyx again or when i restart steamvr

Sounds like an overclocking problem.
This game utilizes all of your hardware, unlike most other games.
Even if you have settings on low, it will still make a request for your computer to provide the necessary resources.
Having a bad overclock will cause those resources to freeze the game, crash the game, or even the computer.

how can i fix my overclock?

because i don't ever remember overclocking my pc

with some help from steam support i have figured out that it is not because of a factory overclocked gpu using nvidia control panel's debug mode

i whas told that they do not have a fix for this at this time, and encouraged me to search and post about the issue in one of the more active steam community hubs so the devs can see it
