Hard-hat, actually useful
Tonight I discovered that wearing a hard-hat wasn't just wacky fun, it actually has a use!

Same with the mask!

I absolutely love how they made a number of different objects wearable throughout the game, with some of them even having actual use in gameplay

Even traffic cones and buckets that mostly obscure your vision, I loved figuring that out on my own, looking at objects like that and thinking "wait...could I?"

Especially the breathing mask around Jeff

All the wearables except maybe the tiger mask have a purpose. The helmet is protection against barnacles, and the respirators protect you against the alien pollen/spores later in the game instead of having to cover your mouth.

PS: Wait... you can wear traffic cones as hats? Damn I missed that.

Yeah, traffic cones both large and small fit on your head if you place them just right, and same with the buckets. It takes a tiny bit of practice and finagling as you kind of have to place them on the front of your head like a hat.

I'm left to wonder what other hidden hats are left in the game though, and furthermore, what modders could do with a dedicated wearable function in the player code lol

Also I hope they make a few more objects wearable, like dead headcrabs on your head maybe, or putting a spoon on your nose

The tiger mask works like a gas mask, too.

Isn't the wearable buckets to prevent headcrabs from headcrabbin' you? Or do they still latch to your stomach?
Kobs Mar 30, 2020 @ 6:05pm
If they were they would be called stomach crabs

The headcrabs can still damage you and stuck on face, even with a full bucket on head; have tried this before.

They do stick to your upper torso sometimes and you have to rip them off.

Yep, somehow with this whole virus outside I felt very compelled from the very start of the game to wear the hardhat and respirator.

Now I'm so happy it saves my life so much...

I wanted to wear a dead headcrab for a hat so badly....
