White Noise Sound Blast
I've got a Samsung Oddysey+ and run into an odd sound issue I haven't had outside of Half-Life Alyx in anything else VR. Seemingly at random the sound will get overblown with white noise. I want to say it's related to UI elements but it happens without the hud or holographic interfaces being drawn in front of me at times. It can happen at the main menu too though, which I know is pretty holo-heavy.

It specifically goes away when I pull up the sound settings on my machine and switch audio interfaces off of the USB 2.0 sound device provided by the headset to my desktop's Realtek onboard audio, and then switching back to the VR headset audio. I don't even need to relaunch the game, works flawlessly.

But I don't know the source of the problem here.

Specs:

Windows 10 Pro
Radeon RX 580 8 GB (latest driver downloaded because I had unique other UI issues on launch day)
Ryzen 7 1700
ASRock X370 Taichi
16 GB DDR 4

I am using some Amazon Basics HDMI and USB 3.0 extension cables, they've worked with other games really well and I'm using the USB 3.1 port on my motherboard. Can try without to do process of elimination, just need the time.

it is related to the extensions, specifically USB. its a power-draw issue. WMR headsets get distorted sound (heard as extremely loud noise) when the USB connection doesn't receive sufficient power from the port.

It may be possible to fix this by changing some motherboard bios settings or unplugging other devices. some people can fix it with a powered extension or powered usb hub. the sure way to get rid of the issue though is to just not use an extension cable.

Same thing is happening to me on my Odyssey + with AMD rx 6900xt. Maybe it is a AMD thing because I am not using any extensions.
