How do you jump?

I feel like ive seen evidence of this question, but like I cant get to the answer.

Im at the mattress in the beginning of the game.

I have the HTC vive setup, I am in blink/shift mechanics, the walkthroughs show me that the game shows me to press down on my right track pad, and the jump indicator initiates.

When I press down on my right track pad, I blink one step back.

When I go into my bindings, it tells me that pressing down on my right track pad opens the jump dialogue...

Is this a glitch or am I missing something simple?

Well basically a head crab comes flying at me and I leap off the ground in fright. How about you.

I suggest making use of a counter-movement jump for maximum height. A counter-movement jump is where the jumper starts from an upright standing position, makes a preliminary downward movement by flexing at the knees and hips, then immediately extends the knees and hips again to jump vertically up off the ground. Hope this helps!

Okay then.

Just fired the game back up and now I can teleport onto the half wall without even using the jump button.

Last night, trying that teleported me to the ground in front of the half wall.

pull the right joystick back and you will get a jump indicator with your phantom feet showing where your going o land..position it then just let go.

There is no traditional "jump" mechanic in this game. The teleport (down on the stick) feature described above is what we get.
