Way to disable spectator window completely?
So there are certain cmds to change behaviour of HUD size and camera for the 2D spectator window like described in:
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1367-QDNM-8600

But is there also a way to disable it completely?

As it seems to separately render the game it ccosts some performance and i'm playing 90% of the time alone....

I've dabbled in this in the past and from my experience you can't fully disable it. What I'm saying is that even if you close the display window it would still be running in the backround because that's the game itself.

Even having the spectator display disabled caused no increase in performance or noticable difference on anything gpu/cpu sadly.

Could you nevertheless share how you did this? :ed:

You could try putting "-window -w 1 -h 1" in the launch options, it doesn't completely disable it though.

Thx, yeah guess its still rendered then.
GuessWhos's comment most probably was about SteamVR MirrorDisplay, which does not impact performance as its really just mirrored output of the rendered image

But the separate Alyx window seems getting rendered on its own given by the additonal settings...

You may Minimize Spectator window via Windows Task Manager.
Switch to "Process" tab, right-click on Half-Life window (under its task) then "Minimize".

There might be some optimizations on Minimized widows exists.
