the headset runs at it's native resolution, you cannot change it, for the rift CV1 that is 1080x1200 per eye.
what you can do is increase the super sampling in your VR software for steam or oculus, what that does is render the picture at a higher resolution, and then sort of compress it to your headset's resolution, it makes for a smoother picture, even if your actual resolution hasnt changed.
You can upsampeling the picture to look sharper but thats all.
Also, no need to do it in Oculus or Steam VR, Alyx already has the option to increase the rendering resolution. Instead of bringing up the regular menu press the three lined button on the left touch and it will bring a secondary menu, from there you can adjust the supersampling resolution.
im not sure, but it is not the preffered method, use either oculus, steamVR, or the game it self if it has the option is likely the best way to go. some games have the option built in.
