Those tripods....omg
I just wanted to say something that I never thought I would. I am not a HL fanatic but this experience was mind blowing. Basically in the first level, you go inside and then you go outside and see this huge tripod approach you. There have been games that tried doing something similar with size and it's pretty cool.
Though I have NEVER felt the need to hide when I saw something that was massive. I'm also not really sure exactly how they pulled off such a moment where I felt that.
As a VR veteran, I didn't expect them to blow my expectations out of the water like this.

They’re called striders
Actually the official name of them is "Tall Booty Eaters". That's what the combine call them.

Whatever they are called it sounds like the experience is fun.

yea you can really picture one in real life on patrol watching and hearing it coming, crushing window ledges to get to high up rooftops i was also impressed with this

And the health stations, whenever i watch the health stations now i have to wonder if they changed the concept from HL2 stations. Because watching them used in 2D in HL2 they have the same disc but they just make so much more sense in Alyx now...

have you met the first "Vortigaunt" yet ?

Exactly, that scene just wouldn't carry the same weight outside of VR

I damn near killed him when he stuck his head through the "door hole".
