Low performance on 2080ti and 8700k
I'm having to run at low preset at 80hz with latest drivers just to keep framerate. However frequent dips to motions smoothing are very comon.

Other people are saying performance is great. Am I missing something?

Most of the people i see complaining are using nvidia cards, maybe nvidia need to work on their support for this game a little more. I've got a 5700 XT on latest radeon driver and it's got no issues at all on ultra preset.

Same issue with a 9900k and a 2080ti.

I have absolutely no problems with 9900k and 2080ti, both overclocked and playing at 120 hz on Valve Index very smoothly with no frame drops...

Update your nvidia driver to the latest one if you have not already, it is optimized specifically for this game.

Is your SS set to manual and too high maybe?

2080ti
9700k
32gb
Index@90Hz
SS@140%
Game set to Ultra
NVD442.74 (not current)

Its holding up nicely.

2080 ti and i7 8700k here. No issues.

if you are on gameready drivers then thats probably the issue. my game was constantly dropping to 50fps on a cv1 with a 1080. downgrading to studio ready drivers got me stable 90 without any drops

For the people that say it's holding up well. Are you sensitive to motion smoothing? I can't stand it and consider it unplayable when it halves with smoothing.
Tiramisu Mar 24, 2020 @ 7:48pm
In select cases I would put up with a half rate @144Hz, but thats doing kind of experimental stuff with VorpX. I definitely would not be ok with playing at 45fps!!

I can see on afterburner it is holding 90fps 99._% of the time (considering there is loading sections, it is damn near perfect). There is even a little headroom, so I could go for 120Hz with maybe a small decrease in SS, or up the SS a little more.

Motion smoothing is ALWAYS OFF for me and I never have issues and 120 hz on everything I do.

I have a 2080Ti and tells me ultrasetting may make the game unstable. :(

So I just did a test to see if I could push things further. I launched the game to see the new smooth turning. My SS was back at its default of 150%. Played a few minutes and then went to see what the performance would be at some higher amount, it turns out I had it set to 120Hz also! So I started up the game again keeping 120Hz and turning SS to 282%, this was the result of the 2 short plays

Now the data isnt perfect, as it seems there may be some auto scaling happening, even with it set to manual. But you can see the 2nd section the GPU is pretty much maxed out and that there are more instances of dropping from 120fps. It is just about noticeable, but still playable. I am more than happy to stick with my defaults of 120Hz and 150%SS tho, that was perfect.

nvidia control panel, set power management mode to "ADAPTIVE"
vsync to "FAST"
set cpu to "high priority" using oculus rift s? use oculus tray tool,,,now if you have the nvidia control panel set at "optimal power" the games will run really poor ie stuttering.try that and see,
