Antlions are harmless
I found this enemy probably the worst. When i saw their corpses on chapter 7 i started shaking, but then i met them and....meh.

They are very slow and the amount of them is really poor.

You want us to be able to kill them easily? Ok, no problem. But make them numerous. 1 antlion is not a problem. 3 neither. But a group of 10 would be.

On Half life 2 they dont appear in large groups, but they are VERY agressive, they are faster... They die easily, but they can be a problem because of those reasons

They should be something like that. Easy to kill, but strong in large groups. In this game they appear in groups of 3 or 4, which makes them harmless.

All of this is obviously on hard mode.

Yes I want to be rushed by 15 antlions at once. That'd be fun
Take into account, this game is also designed as an entry point for VR.

Many people buying this will not have used it before. So both the Ant-Lions and the Combines aggressive AI has been toned down.

Again, I think it needs an NG+

antlions were indeed a bit disappointing, very slow and lacking of mobility + the weird armored body/weak legs mechanic
also the antlion workers didn't visually differ enough from the regular ones (like they do in ep2) to be to my liking

it's understandable though, having the quick and nimble antlions from hl2 would be very messy for VR
Problem is they just slow walk towards you and stab at you. They should be leaping at you from time to time.

I'd like to think they're different from the Antlions of HL2 possibly because of that glowing substance in their thoraxes, but ultimately I have to agree that most Antlion encounters were rather easy even on hard mode, aside from the last one which finally threw a good amount at you.

I think they could've made them more mobile and aggressive without making them full HL2 speed. I like the idea of Antlions having armored carapaces and weak thoraxes (and especially compensating for lost limbs, those animations were really good), but without that distinct Antlion rush they're sadly just way less intimidating after the first few encounters.

True, animations are lame, they could at least mask the simplicity.

I know, but those who are new can use easy or normal mode. Thats why games have difficulty modes

Not just that. They alse use to walk backwards :D Non sense. They shold be like in HL2: always attacking agressively.

Even the headcrabs look more threatening

Yes, i didnt like too much the mechanic. is like every antlion is a miniboss where you have to shoot always at the same spots and always in the same order. I would prefer the HL2 antlions, that you just shoot at them and they die quickly. And the "orange legs boss mechanic" for another type of antlion
