i made a similiar thread in november but i want to ask once again. Does anyone have the same specs? Can you see if it runs ok?

You probably already have plenty of answers (haven't read them all), but your CPU should be fine, but you will need a faster graphics card.

I run Alyx with: (minor stutters here and there but very playable)
- I5-2500K (Your cpu is slightly faster but only marginally so)
- gtx970 (much faster than your card, although gtx970 is rather old)
- Oculus Rift (CV1)

In other words you should be fine playing Alyx if you upgrade your graphics card. That said, both our CPUs are below the minimum recommended specs. So if it is possible for you, upgrade both CPU and GPU.

I just played the game on my media server desktop with a GTX 1050 Ti, a Ryzen 3 2200, and 16gb of RAM, and it played fine for me on low settings. I wasn't getting 60fps, mind you, but it was smooth enough to play the game without bothering me.
I have a rig that just about manages to bypass the "minimum" specs requirements on Steam, and I can still run the game at the second to highest quality setting without a lot of hiccups (sure, there's some occasional stuttering, but the point still stands). It's likely that your rig could very well run the game, and even if it can't, you can always refund it if you haven't played it for more than two hours.

So, let just get it clear. I just should buy a new graphics card and i'll be able to run this game well, right? And if so, what should i get? RX 580 or GTX 1060-1080?

if it were any other vr game the answer would be yes but unfortunatly for this game you'll need to atleased get a 1060 or the game will tell you immediatly that your system doesn't meet the minimum requirments. it will still let you play it but as to how well it will perform remains unknown.

Read my last question regarding my specs tho.

Will i run this game smooth enough with a new graphics card?

yes even if you upgrade to just a 1060 it will run fine. i ahve a friend with a 10603gb and he runs it smooth as butter it might even run on a 1050. plenty of other vr games do.

Let me give you a clear answer as I've tested this game on multiple hardware configs from state of the art to older systems like yours. Your processor will suffice, however you will need a better graphics card, yours won't cut it. (It won't be enjoyable at least.)

I have not tested a 1050ti, but I have tested it on a 970, which is about on-par with yours if not a little faster, it was not able to run the game smoothly regardless of settings.

if you were to upgrade i would look atleased a 1070. i use a 1080ti and going from a 1070 to a 1080ti made zero difference in vr. and 1070 will run anything vr for a while. if you have the money though get one of the rtx cards they are better designed for vr.

Alyx will run okay on a 1060. The problem is, most VR games really want more. If you don't want to buy a new GPU next year, you should aim at an RTX 2060, which is about on GTX 1080 levels. If you can find a cheap GTX 1080, get that. So you can keep it for a few more years.

Edit: about headsets, the Quest has a lot more SDE (screen door effect) and it's not comfortable for long sessions. The Rift S is better for PC games, it's meant for that.

lol my friend uses the oculus quest via link cable even after i advised him to get the rift s instead. he hates the quest. i have the original oculus rift and i love it. if i were you i would get the rift s it's the same price as the oculus quest at 400usd. i would wait until you can find one for 400 and not the outragous prices people are asking for.

your graphics card is ♥♥♥♥, minimum is the 1070. I have a rtx 2060 super and it strains a bit in certain scenes. also you better have at least 16gb of ram

There's people running it fine on a 1050ti, and I believe them because I run the game fine MAXED OUT, everything, on a 1080. Did you forget to reduce the refresh rate of your Index, if you have it? Because Index at 144hz is very hard to run, yes, but 90hz are fine.

Mixed Reality will do. Never had any issues with games not being compatible with it
