Valve Index Gun Skins?

I might have missed something, but I don't see a way to turn these on, despite owning an Index and having the DLC in my list. Is there no need to turn them on? Do my weapons have the skins enabled by default? If not, how would I enable these? Thx

I can't seem to find them.
They have to be in the settings somewhere

It would be dum if it automatically gives you the guns and you just wouldn't know until you looked at normal version.

Apparently this is how it works. The skins are applied by default, so our guns just look different than normal. Strange way to go about it, I'd personally like the option to toggle them on and off, but oh well.

To disable the Valve Index Preorder weapon skins, right-click Half-Life: Alyx in your Steam library, and choose Properties > DLC. Browse to “Half-Life: Alyx – Index Preorder Items” and uncheck the “installed” checkbox. To enable them, re-check the checkbox.

Did this only work with preorders or can I get them also by just buying a valve index still working at this day?

No clue. I know you can still get the bonus CS:GO items if you were buy the Index now, but I'm not sure if that also applies to the weapon skins within HL:A.
