AMD Crossfire?
Does the game work with a crossfire configuration?

I have a computer that meets the min spec except the gpu is a rx570 8g. Buying a second one for crossfire would be the cheapest way I could meet the specs for Alyx. It would be a big waste of money if there was no performance scaling though.

Edit/ thought this was a post for csgo(facepalm).
Haven't done crossfire vr yet.
(Original comment /it does work, but I use a much older setup, 2, 5870's.

I use new and old computers alike.)

IDK what Ted is on about... very, very few VR games have any sort of dual graphics card support. The only one I can actually think of is the Nvidia funhouse demo.
In theory, you could use one card for rendering each eye. In practice, keeping them synced is an absolute nightmare, and the performance gain just isn't worth it.
End result is that you want the best single graphics card you can justify for playing any VR game.

Ah. EDIT.

Sorry I hang out in csgo forums, thought I was replying on csgo forums.

I give my apologies, I haven't yet tried crossfire on VR, one of the things I have yet to do.

I know useing a external video card works on laptops for vr, but not crossfire.

I hang out in both csgo forums and alyx forums, so I made a mistake.

Even if you posted in the wrong forum.. Just don't go with Crossfire or SLI for any game. They both suck. It's better to sell your current card and buy a better one.. Like a 1060/2060 or if you can a 2070.

Now crossfire does work for games, playing on Alienware m17x and m18x and desktops with it I can tell you it works nicely.

It doesn't add the power of both cards at once, it's one card with assistance from the other.

It's for those who want to pack power.

Really? that's nice.. I rememberd some games like Tomb Raider or Deus ex work like a charm on crossfire.. Pretty much double the FPS, but like a said before. One more powerful card is just better you know, drivers works better. everything is more compatible.. It's just a better experience. I change my 2x390 for 1 980ti, It was the best decision i made. haha

thats why my main has a rtx 2080.

My crossfire setups are just my fun to play with toys.

and to add to this, its expensive to have multiple cards crossfired.
