Would a GTX 980 Still be able to play this?
The requirements says a 1060 and from what I saw online though benchmarks a gtx 980 has slightly better performance. The only problem is that my card has 4GB of VRAM and the minimum specs says a 6GB card.

should I upgrade or do you think I'll be fine?

From what I know 980 did fine running early VR games.
The issue may come from VRAM, of which the game demands 6.

980 has 4 iirc, unless it's TI

a 980ti 6GB is equivalent to a 1070 from what i've heard, dunno about the OG 980

I had GTX 980 before updating to 2080RTX and the GTX 980 was unable to run Blade and Sorcery without lag (but could still run), although many other VR games worked just fine with it.

Edit: I am using index if that matters.

Index may be the reason for stutter due to higher resolution. Just a guess

should be fine for running the game - you might not be able to go on ultra or high settings though

Yes, that might be it, although I didn't have the index on max frame rate usage either, as the GTX 980 was not strong enough for that.

I'd just wait and see... if you do turn out to need a better card, it will be cheaper too.

All it would affect are the texture loads, so I think 4 GB would be fine.

Guys, does anyone here tried to run Alyx on a 980m gtx (mine is 8 GB) or any other GPU below official requirements ? I am just interested in feedbacks of actual experiences, i already know that the card does not meet official minimum requirements. Thank you !

My 970 can run it just fine, so... yes.

I have gtx 1080, Ryzen 2600. After 1.1 update game runs much more poorly. Stuttering and low fps issues all around.
