Since you posted this in English I assume you're not specifically talking to Chinese users. It would help if you explained what was wrong with the new title beyond 'it's not correct', because it's not going to be obvious to anyone who doesn't speak Chinese.

It's not a bad translation, Mainland China's original translation is what's bad and why they decided to change it to what is more common in Taiwan and Hong Kong. You either need to learn proper English or Mandarin if you even begin to think this is the worse translation.

半条命 is an idiomatic expression denoting various things, but none of them properly refer to the term as used in nuclear physics, where it describes the process of radioactive decay (it's even abbreviated t1⁄2), which just so happens to be called 半衰期 in Chinese, regardless of the variety you're speaking.

If you're unhappy with a new translation, blame the original translators coming up with a flawed and needlessly poetic title. The original is clearly referencing exponential decay (hence the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lambda, do you think they just threw in some neat signs they thought looked cool?) and not translating it the way they do it now would straight-up be silly.

This is fan service for people who give the slightest damn about this kind of stuff and would prefer a game that doesn't sound like some Qin-Dynasty poet found a time machine and decided to tackle prolific game title translations. It's good the way it is now.

You're so clearly oblivious of what the original title even means, you either are having trouble with physics or are complaining about a specific feature of the English language you don't understand. 半条命2 is official name on game discs back in 2004, which is published by 奥美电子 in China Wuhan, I am too tired to read your long post
