Do you like the new BSG? Are you into turn-based tactics games? If the answer is yes then this might be up your alley. The strategic element is very bare-bones though so don't go in expecting a 4X.
First Cylon War 1948 - 1960 Colonial timeline
Second Cylon War 2000 Colonial timeline
This game is canonical to the RDM modern BSG (the miniseries does show the old show centurions and basestars, which appear in the game). It uses designs adapted from the 1970s show as well as ships inspired from the 2000s show, or taken from the new show.
This is a WEGO turn based game, where basically turns are 12 seconds of simulated time and both sides go at the same time. It's less frantic than an RTS like homeworld and the game will stitch the turns together after the battle is done so you get an uninterrupted battle to watch afterwards.
Oh man, so true. So sad to see that ip get that screwed up. RIP HW.
+1
HW:R with BSG mod is great, you'll feel like you're in the serie, in the middle of the action.
For me BSG: Deadlock and Diaspora: Shattered Armistice have been the best BSG gaming experiences over all.
What do you mean by docking bug? I though it was only for HW Classic, not the remastered game.

Homeworld is another faster paced RTS that focuses on smaller groups of ships with much more specific roles working together. The fleets are smaller compared to Sins, but larger compared to deadlock. Its purely tactical combat with no strategic layer.
Deadlock only allows controlling of small fleets, but arguably has the best combat system and cinematic of all three titles due to the nature of the tactical combat. Its has a very minor strategic layer. I'd say for both combat and spectacle this game is the best pick.
