Chapter-9
So, starting a new campaign worked, I can now play the missions.

I have a new problem though, Chapter nine seems impossible. I cannot for the life of me, save the frieghters, the Cylons focus on one, and it's too slow to actually move out of their attack range. Less than two minutes into the mission, and I've already failed it.

Sorted. Just needed to stack my units one atop the other.
Keeping those freighters alive is a pain in any mission. It took me multiple tries as well :KSad:
Stuck on this one myself. Even with fighter escorts the freighters get torn apart. The only way I've found to prevent that is jamming my fleet up in the top corner at mission start which results in my fleet getting torn apart instead.

Given it about a dozen goes and am getting rather frustrated with most strategies ending after only a few turns.
Be sure and turn those freighters around and RUN....along with viper escorts. Also, keep a ship or two close to the space station, because two Nemesis will jump in. The No. 1 thing to do in saving freighters is get them OUT of the battle. RUN.

Also you need to move the freighters ever turn, changing vector and height. The torps always slew me.

This is the most vital part - get the freighters safely behind your fleet while changing their direction and height every turn.
Yeah, one of those bloody revenants always targets one of the freighters. That's why I use rangers to fire massive quantities of torpedos every round.
A good strategy I've used is to send raptors to the revenants closest to the freighters for the accuracy debuff. That way you don't need to put your fleet right on top of the enemy to protect it. Also, dont bring daedalus. Use a mobile fleet.
Side note in case this aspect is giving people problems: You can command and move the two freighters just like any other ship. So move them away from the battle.
Thanks for the comments. I have been moving the freighters and mostly dodging torpedo salvos. Come very close to beating it. The last time it was a group of raiders which took out the freighter while my Vipers went off to deal with a missile salvo.

I'll get there but I do feel this scenario has somewhat soured the game for me. I feel starting the transports so close to the Cylons was a cheap shot though BG:D isn't the first game to pull such a trick.
Here's a few tip then.

When the battle starts, move your ships closer to the enemy than the cargo ships. At least it makes the enemy less likely to start moving on the transports, and you can fire your weapons sooner.

Send most of your vipers after the enemy fightercraft. Then, have at least one sweeper squad and send that to guard the transports. Use two squads for safe measure, and as one runs out of chaff, you swap it out for the second squad while you send the first back to resupply.

Third, there are many revenants on this mission, one of which will almost always move on the transports. Plan for this, fire massive quantities of torpedos at it the moment the battle starts and take it out before it becomes a threat.
My usual Artemis, Adamant and Bezerk mix isn't cutting it in this group. After 4 tries at that i tried something completely different.

Artemis, Janus and Minotaur setup. you get that right the first time out you can knock out 3 Revenants within the first few turns on encountering them. so long as all your fighters are assigned to the freighter closest to the enemy and you evade with the freighters as others have mentioned, you should be good to go.

The key is to move the freighters out of the area and keep them behind the vanguard. when the Revenants and most of the Arachnes are dealt with, bring those freighters back to account for hostile hunter killers. if you do it right, you can eliminate the remaining Nemesis and Arachne forces and still have your freighters in good condition.

i haven't done this yet, but i've got it zero'd in for the next attempt. I'm certain it will work if i get everything done correctly at the right moment.
You can do it with just Adamants, Bezerks and Manticores if you load up on torpedoes to help focus down Revenants fast as they are the only really serious threat.
The Arachne is no joke either, a small paper armoured freighter won't stand up to one broadside from that thing. Revenants are part of the problem because most of the cylon forces are actually focused on the freighters. so you can't just give those Arachnes a pass either. :P

Have two sweepers deploying chaff guard the freighters. Not a single munition will get through.
