Jupiter Mk II copy and paste of Jupiter Mk I
How dose the Jupiter Mk II differ from Jupiter Mk I?

I'm guessing aesthetically it's going to look more like Galactica from the RDM series, so shorter alligator head and one less pilon on either side. Presumably it will have more guns and armour.

I wonder whether it will replace all Jupiter Mk 1 ships or whether it will be a separate ship that you can order?

I think it mainly just to make the ship look more like it did in the show only with full armor. It should be fun to see what they give us to play with in season two and what if anything we have when we start the new missions.

Personal bet that, other than the aesthetic change to make it match the ship in the show, they'll be upgrading it's armor and hull points. Possibly improving it's firewalls and size of flak too. I don't bet on a firepower upgrade at least not the main battlestar batteries - the Jupiter as it is right now in the game is the most brutal artillery platform in the game by a far and wide margin. Increasing that would be absurdly overkill.

What's happening for sure is a massive upgrade of the squadron capability. Not sure about the fighter/support slots distribution, but Jupiter II seems able to handle five squadrons total. Check the screenshots in the store page for the DLC - one of them is an in battle shot and it shows Galactica using 2 viper II squadrons, 2 raptor squadrons and a Sweeper squadron.

That ship truly seems like something else...

Likely the ship will have less armor overall (because the tradeoff would then have to be the ship being EVEN SLOWER than it already is). Probably less firepower too, but more squadrons would be my guess.

if you look at the screenshots for the dlc, it looks like the jupiter mk2 has an extra squadron slot. 4 instead of 3.

EDIT: It also looks like there's additional guns under the flanks of the bow of the ship in one of the shots.

I wonder what the point value will be for Anabasis. I'd like to field 3 of those babies if I can.

Looking closely at the available screens, it looks like it will have at least as many turrets and PD emplacements as the Mk1 version, but the placement of the dorsal aft quad cluster of turrets makes me think the Mk2 Jupiter could have a rear firing arc where the Mk1 did not.

The show version has 24 turrets, the Mk1 has 16 (8 dorsal, 6 ventral, and 2 forward). The Mk2 now has at least 4 forward so she's definitely gotten a turret buff we'll just have to wait to see to what extent.

That's awesome! On a side note I hope they make more challenges like Anabasis with different stories. Since we'll have the Battlestar CIC they could make one of the ships the "flag ship" that must be protected at all costs. I'm very happy they have that CIC, I've been wanting that for a long time now and I'm thrilled they put it in the game. Hopefully there's characters manning some of the stations so it doesn't feel so lonely lol.
