HEY DEVS! If you're reading this, maybe give us an in-battle "emergency FTL" option for battlestars we want to evacuate? Or just a fleetwide "emergency FTL" for battles that are going south. Would be nice if every battle weren't a battle of annihilation.
You know this already exists.... right?
I know it exists because I've done it. However I couldn't find the offiical communication about it. This might help you though.

This is almost an exact quote from GrenadeMagnet6.
Just looking at logically, a brand new game wouldn't be season 2. Season 2 should be more DLC. The question remains, what sort of DLC?
They experimented greatly with what they gave us. Extra ship pack. Second campaign to run in parallel with the main campaign. Anabasis which is a stand alone game mode. While the execution leaves much to be desired, I think the concept is sound. The third campaign was completely stand-alone and came after the prior two campaigns. It also featured some innovations in the storytelling department that made it more engaging than the prior two campaigns.
They are likely going to apply the lessons learned from these expansions and come up with something that builds upon that. I would like to see more campaigns but I would also like to see gameplay modes like Anabasis.
If you think about it, there's two distinct games here, the strategic mode and the actual tactical combat mode. The strategic mode is effectively just a way to make the tactical combat more interesting, letting you choose how the battles shape up. Anabasis keeps the tactical mode and swaps out the strategic element. You could build upon that concept with allowing the commander to take a fleet on a combat patrol around the periphery of human space. Rather than being the supreme commander of the entire fleet you are just the commander of one task force.
Something like this would have significant replayability. The main campaign becomes very samey after the first few plays. To their credit, it takes a huge chunk of time before it feels samey so kudos on that.
The interface is poor. I missed it the first time. There's an emergency jump option to trigger. Unfortunately it will take time to spin up so if you've got a ship hanging by a thread, it'll likely blow before the jump occurs. It will also take the ship to a random location in range which means you'll have to spend a turn getting it back to the fleet to rejoin.
And of course cylons vs cylons is bound to occur at some point.
OR what i find interesting is going back into the past. Relive the old colony wars between the human colonies with more old ships to fight with
OR i would like to play somekind of underdog faction like the SDU. Now that the things look quite bad after the sin and sacrifice campaign some colonies might try to fend for themselves.
And then after some of the fun from above has happened we may go back to colonial fleet gameplay and defend the colonies again.
Just some of my ideas for season 2
On the bright side, once the Cylons actually makes a move on Sagittarius and Canceron, at least it would show who is the real greatest enemy and the infighting should die down a little, so the SDU might come over to your side. I also won't be surprised if Winutu was actually collecting ships for a resistance, she isn't really anti-Colonial Fleet, she's just afraid to leave her security in the hands of someone who she does not trust. It's just that her methods are questionable.
Actually, it might be interesting to run the next Season as a Cylon campaign, not as Clothos but as Lachesis, the Cylons simply got too little love this season and it might be nice to play as the anti-Colonial Cylons for a bit and to get a behind the scenes look at their "pacification efforts" and how they are fighting against the different factions. And maybe a Season 3 as the Colonial counterattack?
I wholehartedly agree with your idea. Playing from Winutus perspective might also be interesting.
Well doesnt matter. As long as it isnt a second Anabasis i dont care what they will do. I end up buying it most likely anyway.
Yeah, my run didn't go so well...
You know it's not destroyed because it's in the TV show.
