Can't insert Arc welder into a cardboard box without draining battery charge for sell.

I've spent so many hours and efforts trying to sell a box containing among other things arc welder with battery cell (small, energy state equal to full) but when i insert it with LMB it also starts to work and spends some of the battery charge, therefore, I just can't fulfill the conditions in any way. It's so frustrating, because i'm on Venus, still trying to survive in impossible environment.

Sounds like you may be clicking/double clicking to move the arc welder into the box. Can't you just mouse drag the item from an inventory slot into the box?

Nope, just tried this and mouse dragging just places arc welder over the box.

The box should have inventory slots,
If the box is in your inventory, you should be able to open the box to see those inventory slots and drag the arc welder into an empty slot.

It isn't necessary to open the box's inventory slots though, you just need the box in your inventory and drag and drop the arc welder into the container.

Thank you so much for your advice, it's so not obvious that i can open box inventory, now tried and it works, unfortunately, dismissed the guy who wanted the box, now struggling with trading rng to land a guy who sells water. Water is so difficult to get on Arrakis :-)
