hard suit broken?

right now i cant breath when i close the visor on the hard suit helmet i have ~3500 KPA
and a full life support battery am i doing something wrong?

Assuming the hardsuit has the same buttons as the standard suit (I haven't made one), just try to mimic what the options say for the standard suit, if it doesn't already do that to begin with. If any buttons display the word "on", that means it's currently off (any displays like that in general mean you'll be setting it to what it says; e.g. a switch that says "off" will turn it off when you press it).

Also this might be a silly question, but are you actually using an oxygen tank in the suit? Didn't mix up the canisters by any chance? Just in case, I'd try dropping it on the ground for a moment to use the atmos analyzer on it to check.

Hmmm, you're positive it's oxygen in the canister? And that the "Air" button says "Air Off"? If it says "Air On" then that means it's disabled. You haven't mentioned a filter warning, but that's another possible issue. If you're missing the correct filter(s), or you turned them off in the suit, that'll lead to oxygen warnings too. Also filters only work if you have a waste tank to actually filter to.

If you haven't dropped your oxygen canister to look at it with the atmosphere analyzer, do that to be 100% sure there's oxygen in it.

Again, it might be confusing, but if you want suit options to be enabled (A/C, Air, Filter), make sure it says "Off" next to them. I made a new world and spawned in a hardsuit to test these things and haven't had any issues with breathing. If it's still not working despite checking these things, then yeah a screenshot of your suit menu and maybe what's in your air tank would probably help (F12 is the default screenshot button for steam).

Sounds like you don't have a CO2 filter in.

I think one common mistake is putting more than just O2 in your air canister (e.g. trying to do a 80/20 N2/O2 mix). You only need oxygen for your suit (and it'll last much longer that way too). That said, if you absolutely insist on using a mix, just make sure to add extra filters for whatever else is in the canister. Otherwise you'll eventually suffocate unless you keep flushing your mask, which is wasteful.
