wind turbine generator?
So i was trying to go back through change logs to see if this item was removed but I can't seem to find it in creative or on the things to make. Was the name changed? Even if was a so so generator I liked the look of putting in giant turbine vents in the build. Thx for any reply

Haven't tried but GcotU made a video that said gone.

RIP, I loved building that wonky ass thing.

This was five years ago at the exact moment I was using more power to monitor it than I could generate.

Won't miss that thing. I tried many ways to use that thing, never was worth the effort.
i loved it, sad to see it go
A lot of effort for a bit of free energy. Could look nice if well built. But I don't necessarily need it.
there is a mod that makes it make more power @Holgi
the two wind turbines are still there.
the non-wind turbine that could make infinite power by bouncing air back and forth between 2 rooms is apparently gone. i liked how they looked when you vented combusting gasses through them but they had lower durability than iron windows x.x
I used it for deco only. But, it was removed in a post that basically said "removed unused assets". There were a few beta updates that could have been in the last push to stable.
That's stupid.
Deleting working things, when there are a bunch of really broken and unfinished things in the game.

Just think about that for a moment. Is't OK if it takes a couple of times. Just think about that.
I am hoping someone will mod the Turbine Generator back in, perhaps with an option for greater output than the original. I loved playing around with it.
I'm glad it's gone if only because the only real use case I can think of for using these was to make a big ~10x10x1 building where air flows through a winding corridor of these into the final chamber with portable scrubbers with wireless batteries and omni chargers to pump all the air back to the beginning, thus creating a loop that generates more power than it costs to run. This feels like cheesy free power, even if it does take a while to set up correctly.

The only other case I can maybe see them being useful is generating power in a storm event perhaps? Still, there's two perfectly fine wind generators for that. What other legitimate, non-cheesy function do these things have aside from aesthetics?
The infinite power generating thing sucked, though I wish those guys would come back. You can get free power legitimately via day/night cycle: Make a corridor with a bunch of these, one side open to the planet. The air pressure change over the course of a day will breath in (and out) the corridor.
In my opinion, it was not a smart idea to throw away a working and colorful element of the game. It is true that it was possible to generate "infinite" energy with it, BUT the material cost and the energy extracted were not proportional to each other.

In the version before the phase change, I built a generator containing 40 units, which had a power of 70*40= 2,800W and had an operating cost of about 300W.

The material cost was also sky-high. 50 steel frames, 100 steel sheets 2 filtration units, lots of electrical wires, pipes and constant danger to life if something had to be repaired. ;) And of course, it needed a lot of gas.

And the noise it made was both horrible and somehow soothing. That roaring sound! I painted it red-gold and called it the Dragon Generator.

ps:
If you want infinite energy, spam deep miners in coalfields, centrifuges and solid fuels generators. Meh.

We just got half a gigawatt of power lines. Just be able to feed 25 (ok 24) solid fuel generators continuously. :p
why remove something that takes effort to make work when doing a robot only survival challenge
Maybe some one can mod it back in?
