Pressures and doors
I created a custom world where night time is 0 and daytime noon is 2000 C and it is on the Venus preset. Now this is crazy but it feels like the planet that Riddick takes place on. Very cold at night and then during the day look out. Temperatures skyrocket and the planet becomes an inferno.

So first time I try walls but obviously that does not work. When the sun comes up the pressures go from 0 KPa to over 650 KPa and iron walls cannot handle that kind of difference. So if I close up the base (which is not yet pressurized) at night with 0 KPa during the day the walls will implode b/c iron can only withstand 300 KPa differential. So I built my base from iron frames and used the steel submarine type door to the outside. This worked fine. But then I wanted to create an airlock in preparation to pressurize the base. I cannot use the normal airlock doors b/c they cannot withstand the pressures. My first iron hatch door sealed and worked fine. But when I added a second iron hatch door on the outside to create my airlock room it eventually burst. and pretty much ruined my game.

Why did the first iron door withstand the pressures but the second one did not? I'm confused about this. The door burst and it is nowhere to be found. No debris or anything. Completely obliterated it.

The pressures at midnight drop to zero but it takes from sundown to midnight to get the pressures to drop. This also causes a lot of upward outgasing on the planet surface and since my gravity is very low if I'm not careful stuff will float off into no man's land.

It lasted less than 10 minutes. And when I add an outer door, the inner door then blows after. But if I leave it alone, the original door holds.

I've opted to seal myself in and have a temp and pressure monitor that shows me when it is safe to go outside. Then I disassemble a frame and go out. I will add blast doors once I get to steel. Not sure why the first door held. I don't think manual hatches are supposed to hold at 650 KPa.

But in the world I made you absolutely cannot go outside during the day or prior to near midnight. So you have about 6 hours to mine and do stuff before you are stuck indoors.

At dawn the pressure rises almost instantly from 0 to over 500 KPa. As in don't be outside or have the doors open anywhere near this time or everything goes south fast. It will throw you against a wall or if outside throw you away from the base and the gravity is -1 or so, so you float a long ways.

Eat your heart out Venus. LOL. Venus is simple compared to this. One thing easier here is cooling. You can bring in cool air at night and cool things down. Venus is a bit harder to get cooling working.

Nice. I like that things float away due to pressure difference, kinda funny. Venus is definitely hard with the night time not cooling off now.
