Working Rover Fix - Modding Help
It seems as though the devs have changed the rovers in such a way to prevent them from moving at all, or even allowing players to disembark. Since they were working fine before, as evidenced by the plethora of discussion and even video evidence, it seems this was done purely to spite the playerbase and force them to stop using rovers until the devs feel like re-enabling them.

I understand it is still possible to spawn them in, but not to actually use them. How difficult would it be to re-enable the throttle and the ability to disembark? If required, I am happy to modify game files myself, that is no issue. Has anyone tried this recently, or have any experience with modifying the rover behaviour?

I just checked my recent "Rover world", and indeed I could not get out of the Rover. My assumption is that this is a side effect of the Landing Capsule out of which you can get with Q. They worked a bit on this, e.g. they added that you can just leave it by using WASD. Since they don't give a flying crap about the Rovers at all right now, I'd assume that any such side effects would not be considered by them. Before we can talk Rovers again, there first needs to be the new fast finite diverse reason-to-travel highres-voxel terrain system.

Ah, this actually makes a lot of sense. If there are such conflicts with the control scheme, it is no wonder such weird behaviour occurs.

Understandably, the devs may have more important things to worry about, but I'd still like to try and experiment further myself.

Ah, but that's the beauty of "Early Access"... We *are* the alpha/beta testers, and should be able to test things that may or may not be broken

as far as i know rovers was removed from the game and you cannot find the reciept in any machine and that is intentional. THey where removed since they are improving the terrain engine and the rovers would break again and again until that get 100% implemented. So rather remove the rovers than having to fix it again and again was why its not in the game right now.

So anyone still spawning them in though the devs say its temporary removed and not supported do so at their own risk.
I think the reason the rovers are hidden is not to break people old savegames so something can spawn vs givning an error.
Since the rovers dont work as they should maybe consider to angle grind them or let them be parked in your garage for visual effects.
I also miss the rovers but they come back someday. ;-)

So you're defending forcing a known broken feature back into the game and complaining about the known broken feature still not working? Yah, I'm not getting behind that.

I put a chair in my garage. When I need to get out of the Rover MkI I press Lalt, look at the chair and select to sit in it. And it works.
