It's very hit and miss, while portions of the Wiki are still valid, others are not. Same with many YouTube video's out there. It's a bit of work staying up to date with all the changes this game has/is going through.
If you were able to remove both the memory and the math chip it would mean that your sensor was placed requiring zero offset, and it could just use the value from the sensor.
Absolutely, how the daylight sensors are placed directly impacts how/if the numbers need to be massaged to align with the placement of the solar panel positioning. It is entirely possible to orient daylight sensor(s) to require no modification to the the reading.
