Lost the lander on Mars
New player here. Seems I have to quit my first game after 9 days because there was a storm last night and now the lander with all my stuff is gone!

Is this to be expected every game?

Have to adjust ...

Storms are normal and do wear down the lander, but shouldn't destroy it after only one storm; it should survive at least 2 storms unless something has changed. Winds will blow loose items away, so if you pulled out a bunch of things and left them on the ground (even your loaded crates) then lost to the wind those items are. You might get lucky and find those items damaged and downwind pinned against an incline.

But yes, don't dilly dally, you'll need to mind your wares.

On Mars, there is a mandatory 7-day "cooldown" period, when a storm will not happen. After the first 7 days, it's up to the random number generator to decide when the first storm of the game is. So, when you start a new game, be sure to get everything off the lander before day 8.

good to know, thanks

doing a run without weather, to better understand the systems. Will try later to withstand the storm

Day 8? Well got lucky here then, had like 20+ Ingame days before the storms had beaten my lander down to a critical health level.
But yea, by then you better have your containers mounted somewhere more permanent, even if it's just a flat open steel floor.

Not the case anymore, now even the first storm can completely destroy the lander and send the crates flying away.

Unfortunately no, crates are despawned with the lander, stuff is lost immediately :/

Well that's just mean. The game should give a player (especially a new one) some indicators of what's to come. Seeing damage after a storm is a good indicator that storms are bad. A "one and gone" scenario is just a bit too extreme if you ask me.

I just lost the lander on day 8 on Venus. Had been expecting it to survive a few storms but nope. 1 and done. time to restart again lol

This happened to me as well, lander disappeared with the first Martian storm. I started again and just put my crates inside my hab box before I finished building the airlocks, so I wouldn't have to struggle getting them in and worry about losing atmosphere. They do take up space, at some point I'm going to remember to make some lockers or mounts or something.

One of the early game things I do when doing a normal play through is take all the supplies off the lander and bring them into my starter base so I don't loose them. I believe a locker is one of the starting items now. Otherwise you can just throw the chests inside your base if its large enough.

Yes, my lander was taken out in first storm.

me and a friend also experience that our lander dissapear after a storm on mars.
we tried to fly 500m in every direction but could not find it again.
We lost all our seed and crates since they where still attached so it was game over.
I desided to start a new game and as one of the first things dig a hole and put all of the crates down in a little cave and that is an easy pefect solution in start of the game and then grind down the lander so it dissapear.
Only negative thing is that the Egg's spoil extremly fast ( guess 2-3 days ) that is a bit annoying but we can buy it via the trader later in the game.

( I hope they will fix the lander so it wont fly away in storms and also fix the issue with eggs spoiling to fast in a new game.. Example as long as the player did not move them out of the crate on the lander they should be fresh for example 20 days or something like that so the player have a chance to build a base and get started before having to worry about it spoiling )

I'll chime in with the experience of having the lander gone after the first storm (that happened on day 8), so like some others have said I also bring all the crates inside the habitat I build up. If you build a 4x3 platform with the airlock taking up one corner (I use the glass walls for everything in the first habitat) then you have enough space for most of the crates as well as setting up a locker. I like to start with having the production stuff outside, but later building around them so they end up in a version of "inside" as well.

Right now it seems to kind of work like a roguelike. You learn some stuff from your failed runs which makes your next run work better. At a point you'll be able to survive indefinitely, and then you've "won" and can spend time on making your base fun and amazing.

I dug a hole, dumped my crates inside and covered it with some iron frames (airtight).Crates are still there,Lander is gone after one Storm.
