Surround it by e.g. Landingpad Cross, created from the same kit.
If you need a runway, create it using Landingpad Straight, also the same kit.
You then also need Landingpad Threshold which is from "Kit (Landing Pad Runway)". Place it at the start of the runway.
Note: This is what I have found to work in my setup (up to a 9x9 pad with 20 grids runway length). However, after landing the traders do a 180 and "drive" back out to the landingpad threshold, then another 180 and return to the center, so something is wrong.
The current Stationpedia trader documentation seems to be WIP.
Does the data and power port have to have a special position?
Do the pad and the parking space have to be aligned?
Do you have the data and power port, a vending machine, a computer with the communications motherboard, and a satellite dish all on the same cable network and all fully assembled, powered and switched on?
Getting started - You need a vending machine, computer with a communications motherboard, dish, landing pad, and landing pad power and data all connected to the same network. This is the bare minimum.
Landing pad - "Needs a landing pad center" in the middle and needs to be 3x3 for the smallest VTOL. You can get VTOL craft without a runway. The largest VTOL needs to have a 6x6 landing pad. If you have a runway attached, the smallest becomes 7x7 for space planes. The largest is 9x9. Make the rest of the landing pad out of landing pad pieces. Obviously, it needs at least data and power connected.
Runway- Have only ONE landing pad threshold at the spot where you want the aircraft to land. Make sure it's in the center of the runway and it has it's own on/off switch. Make sure it's switched on. The runway needs to only be 3 blocks wide. The shortest runway needs to be 15 blocks long, the longest needs to be 20 blocks long. There is no harm in going longer if the planes have issues. It needs to be connected to the pad. Make sure the center is only "taxi straight." If you have it set up correctly, the center of the pad, along with the threshold will light up, along with the pad. Make sure the runway is connected to the pad. You can connect to the pad with turns in it. The planes will follow the piece of taxi pad that you have so, don't mix a turn with a straight. I had an issue where the planes would bolt off of the runway and take out my dish on the way to the pad, so I just had to pick up blocks and put them back down for it to work.
Overall it's pretty easy. If you have any questions, let me know. I'll try to help out.
Thanks, I was breaking myself here too trying to solve why the track didn't work, your tip of only one headboard saved me.
if you get the error then it can be the above issues, BUT here is another tip.
In my own case i had build a liqued import and connected that i had connected to my 9x9 landing pad.
Unfortunatly i had forgotten all about it so it was only half build with no power or data connected.
This resulted in the error incorrectly configured.
Alternative it could also be that i moved the landing treshold ( the 3 line taxi way ) not at the edge of the runeway but 1 box into the runway ( inside the runway without data cable connected to it )
The 3 line taxi way treshold is the place the plane will touch down, so there need to be a 1 square of runway before it.
Well that is also how it work in real life, the 3 lines on a runway where planes should touch down are also not at the edge of the runway but "inside" the runway a bit from the edge.
Vending machine is actually not required to complete landing pad configuration. You can call traders without it. You just can't trade stacks with them. But maybe you want to trade only gases and liquids anyway...
:shrug
I am also first time trying trading, but worked for me at first try.
I built 5x5 pad
center in the middle
around it all normal landing pad tiles those without markings
at the outer perimeter tiles with cross in the corners and all others streight lines.
Ah maybe your power unit is connected wrong way? I think it matters.
Ah wait can you clarify this?
My current landing pad is working, but I want to change its configuration and hook the dish on a separate power network. Because currently everything is behind a small transformer limited by 5K. But I have a middle dish and I cannot use it to full potential due to this limit. I thought I hook it on a separate 5k line with its own transformer.
This aint gonna work? All need to be on same network?
or maybe I can provide power to the dish with a separate line connected directly to the battery with thick cables without a transformer, but connect the data port with thin cable to the main landing pad network - I think this should definetely work as it would be technically on same data network but on different power network.
