Picked the game back up, have enjoyed it in the past, wanted to see what the new atmo update was all about and I have to honestly say i do not enjoy it at all, setting up a atmo system to get gases is simply no longer fun, too many problems, too little information on how to fix them, so as a result a game I used to enjoy I do not like at all now.

Just my 2 cents worth

Sadly, I'm there with you. This update seems like a huge setback to the game.

I'm probably with you, but I haven't actually tried the new update. I'm staying on [previous] to avoid it for now

Thankyou, i did not know that was possible, reverting now

@Aftertaste
I am completely there with you, that's excactly how i feel since the new changes.

The new update could be good if the gas pipes wouldn't have those hilariously incomprehensible and far from reality damage logics.
In reality a pipe made of steel simple wouldn't break because of some water in it. Simply does not matter if it's supposed to be for gas or not.

I would like the see the devs explain the logic behind that.

It's simply a game breaker, especialy when you try to cool down mixed gases like from a forge or collected ices from a ice miner rocket. And the new pipe diameters in combination with the reduced pump effecency... I do understand that the pipes system should not be used as a storage therefore the reduced pipe volume is no problem to me. But i am still wondering: why even did they add a turbo pump that was able to move 1000 units in the previous updates if they had volume pumps that did 100? Yes, because it was not fast enough! But now uhhhh let's make the turbo pump move the same amount as the old volume pump and the volume pump, what to do with that one? Let's make it 1/10th of the previous capacity.... Great job.

I'm sorry if i sound sarcastic but since Stationeers is one of the few games i realy love spending time in, that update was not an improvement for me so far. Since it was released i havn't spent time actually constructing or imagining new stuff, i only spent the days trying to fix my base and get the gas system running haveway decent again. And no, i havn't succeded in that yet.

In my opinion, they should remove the gas pipe damage from liquid contents completely. instead they should reduce the gas pumps and gas processing items efficeny to a very low level when there is to much liquid in the pipe (this would be far more realistic). What i am absolutely ok with is pipes bursting from actual freezing solid but not from water...

I feel like you are frustrated because you don't understand the new system but it will be great in the long run when we fully understand it.

In the meantime I made a new base on Mars with the new update and I am doing fine avoiding all those issues...while I wait for the Cows are Evil's video on the new system to understand all this mess XD

I feel the game is getting much too complex and losing its focus. I've had it since it was released on Steam and it was fun to survive and build at the start. It was easy to learn but difficult to master, now its just difficult to learn AND difficult to master.

Or perhaps i did simply spend enough time so far with the new system and also with the old one that i can see the kinks and querks of it? Perhaps i haven't waited for someone to write a guide and did actually try the stuff out myself? Even the unconventional stuff like cooling gas inside a liquid line? Even though i play in survival mode, my base had eough resources stockpiled to make it possible to tinker around. I've got my rockets back running to get enough resources for every kind of test setup.

For example: producing liquid nitrogen: You put your gas into gas pipes with medium radiators. Your gas cooling system is then connected with a liquid pipe system via condensation valve to allow the condensed nitrogen to pass to the liquid pipes. Well, that works fine. But for the nitrogen to stay in liquid form, it needs a pressure of 6MPa. So you use the pressurant valve to flood the liquid line with gasous nitrogen till the liquid lines have 6MPa because otherwise the liquid Nitrogen won't stay liquid. Sadly, that gas used to build the pressure is gas and usually warmer then the liquid Nitrogen which makes the liquid nitrogen expand... liquid lines have 6MPa max Pressure and quess what happens? Puff...

The new system brings new options, yes. I love the idea of phase changes. I would love to have real liquids with gravity, yes! But sorry, i cannot accept steel pipes breaking because of tap water just because they are called "gas", there goes my sense of realism!
It just feels unbalanced and if you look at the problems people are having and the videos some have posted on youtube, that update just failed to actually be make the game better in general but only more realistic in a certain area that many players won't ever appreciate.

lalarama, just curious but what about pressurizing the gas nitrogen in gas pipes, and using a condenser valve (can't remember name) to bleed off the liquid? Slow any pumps down as the pressure reaches 6MPa so when it condenses it doesn't immediately fill with more nitrogen, do it nice and slow. Not sure if back pressure/volume is a thing with the condenser valve (name?), but if so then you might need a pump after it to make sure the backside always has more than frontside.

I'm genuinely curious if this works, not trying to sound like I know what I'm doing because I don't.

You may be correct, but if I become to frustrated, to often attempting to learn the changes when very little information about them is available, then it is doubtful that I will learn, as I play games to escape those feelings

@evilshroud
I don't wan't to drift off from the main topic and only meant the nitrogen sample as a small example for many problems. But in my case 2 purge valves cannot master the expanding liquid nitrogen produced because of the slightly warmer gasous nitrogen. If the Purge Valve had a better efficency, perhaps the setup would work but my current setup is a bit cornered of in the base and cannot be expanded without major rebuilding and moving of stuff.

I think the most problematic thing about this update actually is, that the devs did not realy show some example builds for extreme situations for the player to be able to orient themselfes by or at least a standard setup to get the stuff running, I love exploring things myself but only if they follow a comprehensible logic and not exploding pipes because of water in them (yes i will keep mentioning that as it is simply ridiculus :steamhappy:)

I decided to give this game a try after taking a good break from it (1600 hrs of play BTW). I was shocked to see my lovely base go up in flames with me inside of it when it loaded.

Honestly it was fun for me. My first reaction was WTF!!! I'm on fire and dead and my 3/4 of my base is gone, and parts are flying everywhere, So I had to quickly steal from working parts and rebuild systems to stay alive and rebuild, certain areas. Made me feel like I just crashed on the planet and discovered those wrecked buildings to salvage from. Lucky I built an over sized base with the Gases on the far end of the base, and a test room that had some basic Autolathe and furance..

Now having said that, I discovered even the simple solar panel system was no longer working and I had to test and even ask the forum for help. I have zero exp with the code system and have to use Logic chips for stuff.

Then trying to warm up my base, caused it to blow up due to liquid and gases, but honestly it was extremely fustrating but exciting, because you hear your base creaking and groaning and pipes bursting. Then Im running around with a tablet going, "no, no, no... quikly dump the air" BOOOOOOOMMMM HISSSSSSSSSSSSS, "now what." then you come in a room and see the fog from the newly made steam room. So now its like, "ok thats new".. now how do i get rid of that.. so back to the Autolathe and machine room to figure this out.

The game sorta got stale and I actually like the challenge of rebuilding and trying ot figure out how to do it.

Yes, this is what I was trying to say, you said it with much more detail.

I even attempted to learn the combustion chamber, and the other phase device by using the configuration board in the tablet, I hooked up an active vent, a water tank and gas tank for the run off, turned it all on and watched what it was doing, just to get blown up.

Its funny the first few times, but after that its like work

I honestly would like to see other peoples worlds and see whats working for them and how they look, its how i learn and borrow from them.

One of my fav i copied is the inf power turbine system. Using active vents pumping air through a wind tunnel with turbines I have a constant power system that powers everything.

Give it some time, it will come, people still learning and experimenting with new ways and ideas. in fact that is what makes this game fun for me.

The survival aspect has become so intense with this update that it's no longer fun.
Why is such nonsense being made with the pumps?
Why do pipes burst through liquids, shouldn't the pressure be the priority?
It doesn't make any sense to me anymore, I still have a real life.
