How to find out whats wrong with me?
Besides playing this game at all, how do i find out what's wrong with me? I've had this yellow man icon next to my vitals while my health is at 100%, it has been there since i started my current save (on europa), but i noticed my other saves (on different planets) didn't have this. Today i also got the red lung icon on the top right of the screen, but no warnings manifested itself whatsoever.

I really couldn't find out what was causing these issues until i viewed world.xml and noticed i had 30+ burn damage. I've set it to 0 and both the yellow man icon and the red lung icon went away.

But how can i display this or find out in game? And even better how can i fix this. I have only one "pill" and i don't wanna waste it until some real emergency comes up. Also, what is 30+ burn damage and what would be the max?

Kinda puzzled by this. Any insights would appreciated :-)

Lung symbols usually mean that something is wrong with your air.
It can mean different things: contaminated air with x, too hot air, too cold air.

This happened to me when i was breathing far too cold atmosphere once when it tried to make a room with breathable atmo. Breathing too cold air without a suit causes your lungs to get damaged. You can fix it if you still do have that pill from starter gear from your lander.

But be careful: Producing more of those pills takes a certain technology level,,, You can check it in the Stationpedia.

Oh thank you, this might be it. Need to look a bit deeper into it. I just created a fresh new canister of oxygen, but maybe it was a bit polluted somehow. The yellow man was there way before it though so i'm not sure if both are related.

You can use the medical analyzer tablet cartridge to check you organs. It'll tell you the health but not the type of damage. I think burn damage can be caused by exposing your lungs to vacuum or really hot/cold gas. You can make more pills with the chemistry lab or you can use a cryo tube to heal yourself.

It's much better to quickly open your helmet in a vacuum than in very cold or hot environments (e.g. for eating / drinking on stationeers difficulty).

Great, this is awesome information. I didn't know any of this until now. Thanks!

I noticed after update that canisters and portable tanks get polluted for no good reason.

Perhaps this is the reason for you issue? When you filled oxygen canister, magically pollutants appeared there.

Flushing helmet usually sorts the problem if it's small amounts of pollutants!

If it's pollutant in the canister that will deal with accumulation (due to, say, not having a pollution filter in your suit) but won't stop it building up again. Right?

(Though I'm not sure why you'd get pollution in your canister, you really ought to be filling that off a pure oxygen-filter line.)

That's easy. I'm on europe and i'm just filling my canisters from the surrounding atmosphere. But my filling station was in the same room as my furnace, so i probably had some pollutants in the same room when i topped up my canister.

Thanks to everyone for the great answers. I learned a lot again today. Really helpful.
