Faster pipes and cables building
'been playing the game for a few years, returning to it from time to time.

Some time ago I quit building with tools and now build with the authoring tool where possible. Otherwise, it is too tedious and time consuming to build a large base.

Is it true that you still have to build cables and pipes block by block? Are there any plans to give the ability to build many of them at once (e.g., by drawing a line)? Same with painting, building frames/walls?

Just played Astro Colony - there you can build/remove many cable blocks at once. Also, you can build/delete X*Y blocks of floors/walls/etc. And even this is boring because you can’t select a region and then copy it.

The game is imagining the base you want to build *and then building it*.

If you want to wave your wand and have the base magically appear, play one of those games.

You can lay and join cable basically as fast as you can walk. Newbies fumble around and do things the slow way. Some newbies look at what they're doing and iteratively work out things they can change about how they're doing the job that make it go better, until they're not clumsy or slow any more. Other newbies don't.

this is a engineering game, not a building game, you dont need to build that many stuff to do it in a massive way, often you will spend more time thinking about the solution than building it... (or trial an error...) building cables the way you do it now is non an issue because you dont need to build that many anyway, you dont need to build massive cables, but efficient networks, its quality over quantity, ofc you also stated you playing creative (otherwise you wont have this issue in the first place because resource are precious), in normal/survival you feel like every piece of cable or pipe matters because they do... i do use creative sometimes to test things, however it sounds like you building a massive non efficient project as a building project of some sort... ofc everyone is free to play the game as you wish but is not mean to be played that way so don't expect to be convinient to be played that way, there are more critical issues to focus the development at the moment

i havent played astro colony but im sure is not like this game, no game is like this game...

I know what are you talking about, but...
Maybe I had bigger bases or you had greater insistance and a lot of spare time ;-)

I really would love the ability to build something and be able to copy it and drop it somewhere else.

If you’ve played Dyson sphere project you know what I’m talking about.

yea, dyson sphere, factorio, satisfactory, totaly different games....

Yeah, Dyson is like two different games - one before blueprints were introduced and another one after.

It would really be nice to be able to lay a repeated line of wire/pipe/frames instead of just one at a time. I would think this could be worked in some way without breaking the experience.
