If you want to wave your wand and have the base magically appear, play one of those games.
You can lay and join cable basically as fast as you can walk. Newbies fumble around and do things the slow way. Some newbies look at what they're doing and iteratively work out things they can change about how they're doing the job that make it go better, until they're not clumsy or slow any more. Other newbies don't.
i havent played astro colony but im sure is not like this game, no game is like this game...
