Solar Panels damaged by storm while indoors
The recent update changed it so solar panels are no longer protected from storm damage while indoors, so the greenhouse I built for them has proven useless.

Is this intentional change or a bug?

It's an enclosed room with an airlock. I vented it since I thought the problem was the solars overheating due to sunlight & no cooling, but it's definitely the storm that's damaging it.

change your atmo in the room, add some gases who are not in the environment oder make a vaccuum, its a known bug

same thing happened to me, thought it was just something on my end

The devs said there’s a bug with room generation code when you load a game. If you notice that then slap a wall up in that room and it will force the room generation code to rerun

There is an edge case that if the atmosphere inside is very similar to the atmosphere outside, it will be considered a storm currently. So to solve this, pump the atmosphere out of the room and it should work fine until we can solve the issue.

Alright, depressurized the room, added an advanced airlock with 0 pressure setting on either side, solars aren't damaged by storms anymore.

just confirming that this is considered a bug that will be fixed ? my whole solar array on my vulcan build is enclosed on a big glass box, with passive venting, through passive vents, to normalize pressure/temperature, so, atmo inside and outside will generally be the "same". hoping that there isn't going to be some new normal where i will have to refactor the build i have there.

I absolutely did not even consider making solars inside a glass enclosure, thanks for the fantastic idea!

Also thanks Rocket for looking into the bug as well and providing a workaround.

you can pressurize the room or vaccuum it. Apprently, vaccuum it work too, wich i didnt know. Good to know! i'll stop filling the room, i'll vaccuum it instead.

I have this problem as well with my enclosed solar array. I have had multiple storms and have had no problem until this recent hotfix. Now my solar panels are all damaged. I was working on them when the first storm hit and saw them taking damage in an enclosed room.

Thank you so much Rocket. I was going nuts with this. I finally cheated in an advanced solar panel and that solved it. I can go back and seal the room now.

BTW, guys, do I just hook up an active vent on the inside to a passive vent on the outside and run it until my gas valve reports 0 psi?

I tested this and it worked! No vacuum needed. Just remove an entire panel and confirm on the PDA that it's "World" then replace the panel to create a new room number.

Thanks!

You got it! Youll probably want to use the atmospherics cartridge in your tablet to confirm the pressure is 0, the suit will report an external pressure of 0 when there's still some gasses in the room...
Thanks. I never trust the suit. I always have used a gas sensor hooked to a console.

Seems like this bug is still in the game? Just spent 20mins repairing a lot of solar panels that are sealed in a room on Mars. I'm making the rooms atmos a vacuum now but kind of frustrating.
