Multiplayer Connectivity Issues
Hello. I'm trying to play with friends but we can't enter each other's games. Out of a group of 5 people, nobody is able to create a game where others can enter.

We've tried forwarding the ports (27015-27015-27500,etc., both on the router and our internal firewalls), we've tried disabling firewalls all together, we've tried hosting a dedicated server locally (with SteamCMD), nothing seems to work. In the last case, the server shows up with a LAN prefix and nobody but the host can enter. The dedi server shows on the list with a local IP address but it doesn't show to other people.

I would greatly appreciate if someone could give some advice on this.

Thanks.

As far as I remember they are doing some refactoring on MP to battle the lag and turned it off for a while now.

Search for old threads.

I changed the game port to 28000 and update port to 28001, opened both of those on my router and we can play. Have you tried that?

I've read about the net code thing and the P2P problem, however, there are a lot of MP servers on the lists so some people obviously got it to work somehow. The P2P has been disabled for now, but you should still be able to use the MP.

In regards to ports, as I said, I've tried forwarding them on my router. It didn't work. Changing the number on them made no difference, neither client-to-client nor dedicated-to-client. It still doesn't work.

I'm starting to think this whole thing might have something to do with my router+modem setup. I'm thinking forwarding the ports on my router isn't working because the modem might be blocking them. I tried checking for this with online applications that tell you if a certain point is open and, indeed, they chow closed despite the rules I've set on my router. The problem is that I can't really mess with my modem config, my ISP doesn't allow that I believe.

Anyway, any insights you may have are welcomed.

So, I kept researching today and I think I managed to find the problem.

If you are behind a modem+router setup, then the modem prevents people from logging in because the IP for your server is based on your router wan, which is separated from the modem wan. This means that the modem doesn't know where your computer is (since it's in a different network) and rejects the query's to join.

The fix I found is rather simple... just plug yourself directly to the modem. Your game might not advertise properly but I have tried inviting people through steam and it did work (though my dedicated server didn't, I'm still working on that. You'll have to do the normal way).

A second way to fix this is by creating a static route on your modem that leads query's to your server into your private network (I'm sure someone can explain this better, I'm oversimplifying). This might not be possible if your ISP doesn't allow you to touch the settings on your modem so you might be out of luck.

Hopefully this is of some use to other people suffering the same problem.

Cheers.

Basically you play stationeer in real life before playing stationeer MP.

i tried yesterday to just host a game (no pw) without changing the ingame Ports but on my router automatic port forwarding is enabled for my pc and its directly connected via LAN, some random Player actually joined but bcus most peps ingame dont seem to bother writing iduno if they had any problems like the "evrythings unwelded" bug xD
