there is a chance, if you will fly up as much as you can, you will see your base ( in generated area ofc )

save the game to new save just in case

In your situation i would save it, and pick a direction (make sure you can remember which way you went when you reload) the just keep walking, if you dont find anythhing reload and pick another direction, sadly i think thats really your only option other than starting over.

You can use the tracking beacon with your handheld tablet, put the tracking chip in the tablet and it will give you direction and distance to base, only problem is the beacon uses batteries so if you forget to replace it, it can die on you while your out, or you will be like me and be an idiot and forget to turn it on before you leave :P

Find your save folder. Open the world.xml file with notepad or notepad++ and find your characters name, you will see a <WorldPosition> section with X Y Z cordinates, change those cordinates from something near your base, like the Construction Supplies box.

Is a cheese method but, it works. Next time use the Beacon and Tracker. =)

Oh Dear :( Best of luck the prior suggestions are all valid. I found that putting my battery's up on top of my base is a really good idea as these act like a beacon and you can see them from a great distance away. Have gotten waaaay out of base loading range to see it but can always catch the little lights from my batteries as circle round looking for base again.

squashed the save, began anew (On mars) and now I use the mountain by my base as a landmark.

There is a thingy called Beacon (available is flavors Portable, and Fixed) and gadget called Tracker..

When playing Solo, and going out further as 2 chunks of landmass, these two thingies can become you best friend, if getting lost is something you think can happen.

TBH, never expierenced it myself, as the game provide enough hints to find you way back in most cases, going out really far, these things is a must have even for the most expierenced tracker on a dessolate place as a virtual moon.

OFC once it happend, and its happend in a 200+ hour save, asking a fellow stationeer to join you game, and act like a beacon for your tracker is a way too.
If even having a tracker with you was too much, thus no means of finding a way back, a second player is able to track you, and guide you back.

In all, the game provides many MANY ways to find a base back... its down how much desperation is at hand :steammocking:
