Hosting a game is more stable than a Dedicated Server
This is likely to be the case for the near future, while we work through bug fixes.

During this time, the Dedicated Servers will be (relatively speaking) less stable than running a session by hosting on your computer.

I'm not good with such things and i just try to invite a friend to
a singleplayer world. I'm not setting up a dedicated server...
Do i really need to download the things you linked?
(Windows 8.1 <- if that helps^^)

I just ask that, because i dont know what these "Redistributable" things do.
As i said, i've not much knowledge about such things.

Edit: Nothing to see here, just a broken update script on my end.

Playing on LAN: Friend has hard time to see or find the game. Had to INVITE him.
Changing game to public publishing he could see when he search for word LAN.

This could be made better. Most people join private or friend games...focus on that..put public on another tab

Got the dedicated server up and Running. Everything ok . I now use RCON to save the servers progress.

does "more stable" mean that it crashes less or that more things work? for example logic elements and computers are broken on my dedicated servers where i play with friends - they work in my single player game though. would this work if i start a normal game on my other machine and connect to it?

Sorry. But that is just asinine. I can not host a server that way on my remote dedicated box. I rely on a headless fully working stand alone dedicated server package. Thats like telling us, keyboard use is more stable, use it and not the mouse. You can still use the mouse but it just wont work as well as the keyboard. Just stupid!!!!

There is no reason for you not to be able to keep the dedi software just as stable. If ANYTHING that is where the emphasis should be. You should not want to actively encourage people to host from their PC's. Residential PC's and internet are not comparable to an actual dedicated server host where the machine is dedicated, has DDoS mitigation and in our case a 30GBPS stream.

Very poor decision making on your teams part.

i host my server on Ubuntu now. It runs fine as dedicated. used steamcmd to install. need atleast 2gb RAM for it to run for a few players. good luck

so, I can host fine and people can join if I do a dedicated on my PC, but this sucks all the CPU out and the game or the server will run like arse.

however, for some reason, I can't host directly from the game, it wont let anyone join at all.
I have everything port forwarded and all of that stuff.
This "Hosting" a game is not working.
Even if i open port on my router, it dosnt work.
This is REALLY annoying.
I tried to turn off firewall, dosnt work. I got this VC program installed.

My router portw says:

Name:Stationeers
Port range: 27016? or do i write in like " 27016:27015"
Local ip: I use my default ip or do i just look at LAN ip? or search "my ip" on web?
Local port:?
Protocol: UDP? TCP? OR BOTH?

I have RT-AC68U router.

Can someone tell me how i can fix this?

Try using Hamachi... may make things easier on you.

You need to open a range of ports bigger than than.
I had success with ports 27500-27505(game tcp/udp) and then just 27015 (steam tcp/udp)
Running from linux server

Stationeers has built-in UPnP module which adds necessary ports to your router. Some of router don't allow to add it. If it doesn't work, you have to set port-forwarding manually. UDP 27500, 27015 are default ports. You can modify ports in game settings on client.

If your client and server are in the same network, you should see it on LAN server. LAN query ports range is UDP 27015 - 27019.

The question is when will the problem with the connection through the router be solved?
It's already been a long time ... And the problem is not solved ...
Ports are open, UPnP works and sees game ports, the exception rules in the firewall are written. But until now the game does not appeal to these ports.
Verification through the command line confirms this - the ports are open, but to them no one calls, although the game is started and the world is created!
This situation for many players! When is it planned to fix this problem?

Is there any way to play togheter? We tried private Hosting, dedicated server on own Computer, Hosting a Server! NOTHING works. Forwarded all Ports and so on. Anyway why do we have to forward ports??? Any other game which has multiplayer also doesnt need this! In my opinion "BAD" Mutliplayere Programmers in Team!
