That one initial mistake players make in multiplayer...
....starting to build a sealed base!

It seems Minecraft (among others) tought us to build a mud hut asap. But in Stationeers its rather high-tier stuff to build a pressurized habitat. If you start with that you run out of power and die. Path to ruin.

Thats what you see on lots of multiplayer servers. Repeated over and over again. So players obviously misunderstand the gameplay progression and thats something the game designer should adress. Probably.

(tl;dr:)
So kids, listen - you dont need a closed base and airlocks right now. Even your oxy lasts for over 50 ingame days. Go mine, smelt and increase your power output! Lack of power kills you quickly! =)

TBH, i made that mistake as well, but i assumed it was important the first time, due the presence of airlocks and equipment that points towards setting up an airlock is in the containers already when you start.

Also a complete lack of ingame help, cept the ereader what's not something a new player figures out as the first thing, nor it give you any guidance, the game does point you a bit due to starting components, to think enclosed airpressured accomidation is a must.

But i found out the hard way, that getting a good stable power supply is more important, to keep the production running so you can build everything you need for such airpressured base.

I think you are right to a point, but I usually build a base first, and still have little issues with it, just slowls progression down a bit.

Pretty much my point. The fact that we player "think" we need to build a base is the core why most multiplayer games dont work out. I rather "accidentally" never build a closed base, because I couldnt figure out the airlocks on release day.
Then I noticed "wait a second - 20+ days and I dont NEED a base???" A day later I joined a random server, entered the base where everything was in flames...

Building a base from start brings all pain of the systems down on you in one strike - atmospherics, heat from furnace, explosive gas, fires..

this is when you dont understand systems. I set my first multiplayer base on fire the first time we fired up the furnace

Blowing stuff up would be an awesome achivement. Like blowing pipes and stuff to try to set some records for height launched
