How to start multiplayer with friends?
Just got the game with a buddy, but when we went to join on one another it just says the server isn't responding... there something special we have to do in order to play with eachother? Haven't seen a thread about it yet.

Just make sure when you start the game. go to settings and name and password your multiplayer settings and advertise it. then have him find you in the list of servers.

I've found that even if you advertise your sever it still won't show up. Any tips from there?

Sorry. I don't. I know me and my brother tried joining each other by just using steam friend list but wouldn't work. So we just used like I mentioned above. Guess it could be something to do with fire wall or something.

Read that some people may need to do a bit of port fowarding

I was hoping a dev might jump on really quick. They seem to do it quite easy, I'm sure we are just missing something.

so did anyone else have to forward ports to enable MP with friends and such? just curious.

Stationeers has built-in UPnP module which adds gameport and updateport to router. Just make sure these are forwarding to your pc if you are under NAT.
Default gameport is 27500. Updateport is 27015.

Just FYI, the game says the default gameport is 27016.. if it's 27500, this could explain why my friend could join but not move around or do anytrhing. I'll open 27500 and see what happens.

You can change ports Settings > Multiplay on client. When it comes to dedicated server, you can modify default.ini or using parameters.

27015 and 27500 are UDP. 27500 TCP is for rcon on dedicated server.

You don't need a network course to learn how ports work, and if you want to host any form of multiplayer game, I suggest you do try to understand how ports and your windows firewall work. It is really not that hard. The steam community is quite friendly, and i am sure there are people ready to help you if need be.
