Tested it for fun a week ago and I can't pick up things even if the tutorial ask me to do so.
I recommend to watch some known Stationeers builders as Rhadamant or Bushwacka etc to learn the game instead.

- Figured it out, the labeller needed to be turned on.
This could be related to a known issue on object placement and there is a fix currently in testing.
Also if you haven't already make sure the composite door is the door you are placing as the first door in the kit is a glass door. scroll to select the composite door.
I have added some extra steps to tutorial 7 requests the player to pick up and turn on the labeler on the BETA branch.
Just to be clear, it is still not working. There is no obvious way to finish the airlock tutorial.
No, I did all tutorials yesterday and all worked fine.
Are you sure you use the right door. As said before you need the composite door which needs you to scroll through the door built option till your get to composite door. And it must be faced right.
The previous tutorial almost got stuck because after smelting the iron I put it in my backpack then the autolathe but the quest was demanding the ingot go into my hand so "Pick up the Iron Ingot" didn't complete. This one wasn't blocking as I was able to mine/smelt more iron and later you are shown how to eject the ingots from the lathe.
I was gated on the first tutorial as I played a frame in the wrong spot and there is no grinder in the first tutorial to remove it.
The tutorials are unforgivably specific. Getting the ingot into the lathe is a proper objective. Putting the ingot in your hand is an optional task being treated as a required task.
Seems if you place the wrong door or place the door the wrong way around it causes the tutorial to bug out.
Restarted this one Placed both Comp doors with the cable facing into the gap between them and worked fine.
Looks like issue got triggered by putting plastic on both doors, then putting glass on both doors.
