More IC devices

While creating IC chips i keep running into the problem that i've used up all the device slots on the circuit. Is there anyway to increase the amount of devices connected to an IC chip then just 6.

Using things like a memory you can communicate between ICs.
It would be nice to have a memory chip with more than one value (array of values) to be able to exchange more data easily with only 1 output.

You can also use Batch Writers/Readers. Had been looking at a special (more advanced) IC housing that can provide more devices... but might not be easily possible.

Wouldn't it be possible to implement something like a port expander? You could set up to six devices and control the output with the setting variable.

By the way, is it possible now to write to a Batch-Writer without using a memory chip to set its Value?
