Furnace max pressure?
Hello-
What is the max pressure a furnace can take before it explodes? I'm sure this is documented somewhere, but I'm having trouble finding it.

It doesnt, its the pipe connected that will explode
Max of pipe is 60mpa

Furnace can overpressure and blow up at a little above 60Mpa. If you do reach the overpressure you have a short amount of time to release that pressure before the furnace blows up.

It will actually tell you in red on the furnace window that its overpressured.

again its the pipe, furnace itself doesnt have a limit

Lol no the actual furnace too can explode

They made it so it can explode if overpressured not long after i started playing this game.

And yeah waxhed55 i had done the test myself in the other post i posted i tried both trying to save it and just letting it go. And if you quick enough to catch it you can save it by releasing it to vent right away

Came out 11 December 2019

Our Time Is Not Wasted

Added functionality to cause a furnace to explode when overpressurized. Note: those furnaces loading in with explodable pressure when first loaded will have their atmospheres reset, to avoid explosions.

Great info, thanks for the replies.

I think as of now, 2021 January, it can explode basically instantly. It just happened to me yesterday. :) It's just a matter of how much you mess it up. I added volatiles, and then what I thought to be oxite, but strangely it didn't work, so I added more volatiles. Only, what I thought to be oxite was actually ice (water). And when I finally added the oxites, it was an instant boom.

What components can be put together on the out put that constitute a pop off valve? I think I'm going to need that lol.

The max pressure for all pipes and the furnace is infinite. But the max pressure difference between inner and outer sides is 60MPa.

I guess I've been very lucky. I've been playing about 40 hours so not much to lose really over about 5 Mars restarts but I have had the furnace glowing like that quite a few times with pressure warnings from UI voice and no explosion.

I'm going to try to wrap my head around this today and make a pop off valve before disaster ruins this save.

Best thing I could say is a digital valve set to a pressure checking circuit that opens if the pressure exceeds a certain amount.

Logic will be evading me for awhile I think..

I just tried an experiment with a 2 block iron room.
Passive vent out - Pressure reg maxed out - volume pump 10k - large tank.

I dropped 3 stacks of vols and 3 stacks of oxite...

It held up pretty good but eventually blew out two walls.
All pipe, valves and components held up. I was hoping the volume pump would move the gases faster but it was overwhelmed eventually.

I'm wondering now if maybe the regulator held up the volume pump?

LOl, I give up. Going for a furnace room.

Air folows very slowly through regulators compared to straight pipes and pumps so the pump likely backed up and popped.

I'd say use a Atmospheric Kit Filter to draw air out of your melting room. It draws air super fast and it separates the gasses too.
